In japan. what to check out?
 

hey everyone im in japan right now and want to experience the car scene in japan. any brz/gt86/frs stuff to check out? aftermarket parts stores? touge races? stuff like the things you see in f&f tokyo drift? (a real parking lot race would be cool) just general JDM stuff

I believe its every Friday or Thursday for the car meet. I'm not sure if its busted now though.

I also haven't kept up on what time the meets are held now either, but I do know its held towards around 9pm-ish.

Was there 2 months ago, tho didn't spend much in my automotive hobby. But you can check top secret garage, toyota mega web, history garage (right next to toyota mega web) also tsukuba circuit (for this you have to leave hotel as early as 5 am, taxi service on nearest train station to tsukuba open at 7am) and lucky according to their calendar they have impreza circuit meet on 6th of july and jcca summer meet right next day.

Edit: btw in toyota mega web you can test drive a gt86 on their small test track, don't know if they still offer that testvdrive but you can check it out

Where in Japan? Tokyo?

If you go to Shibuya station in downtown Tokyo, that's the big intersection that they tokyo-drifted through in the movie.

Autobacs in Tokyo is Meh. The cars in the garage are cooler than the shop itself. The shop felt like a pep boys.

I'd say check out some of the roads in the mountains if you can get a ride or take a tour. They should be nice and green this time of year. Hot as hell, but pretty.

Check out Akihabara for nerd fun. My buddy and I wasted a day in just two buildings checking out all of the shit for sale and cool arcade games.

There is some BOMB street food in Ikebakuro called Bakudan Yaki. It's in the central arcade area. Just a small stall. I miss that stuff so much. It's so magical.

The giant gundam is pretty rad.

And if you're in tokyo and need a snack remember... Family Mart is pretty much on every corner...
