Need daily driver tire advice
 

I would like some advice about what tire to choose...

I have a set of wheels 18x9 +40 and I'm looking for a good tire to wrap them in. I'm a daily driver that doesn't expect to go racing in this setup of wheels. I'm definitely looking for something that would be easy on my wallet if possible.

Get some ultra high performance all season tires. All season doesn't mean it's for 4 season state, but for good dry and wet traction. Since summers don't last as long as AS, go with all season. I'd recommend general g-max. Used it on my previous audi and it worked well in dry/wet traction.

255/35/18 Continental DWS

I'd agree with conti's, unless your after something better for dry. They are the best wet performing tire you can buy under 1k a set. I have Conti DW on my car mainly b/c I live in southern arizona....we dont have seasons. You can run high performance summers all year (if you can afford to) round save for maybe 3-5 days a year.

Everyone has their preference, so your prob gonna get a ton of answers here.

+3 on the Continentals, DWS are pretty decent tires, but if you don't get really wet or lower temps, the DW are the better choice, more dry and wet grip, i'd run 245/35Zr18 they are close to stock rolling size and will fit nice on 18x9s

Continental run narrow. My 255 are stretched on 9.5 so 245 will probably stretch on a 9. Go for 255.

DW or DWS? The tread width on a DW according to tirerack at 245 is bigger than a lot of 265's... I'm not saying your wrong bro, I just heard the complete opposite for the extremecontacts, I heard they are generally a wider brand of tire.

I have 245 DW on a 9.5 and I dont feel like its THAT stretched at all, and I hate really stretched tires. Granted they arent 265 or 275 meat on the rear though. I'd go bigger if you like but I wanted to try and keep the circ. as close to stock as possible.

if you want the most life from the tire get a flip-able tire, anything with asymmetric tread pattern is NOT flip-able, but just because a tire does not have an asymmetric tread does not mean it is flip-able.

DO NOT GET ALL SEASONS, especially since you live in Cali, a good summer tire will outperform an all season in everything except snow.

There are a lot of good tires in this price range. Personally I went with Michelin Pilot Super Sports, not the cheapest but not super expensive, great wet and dry traction, good tread life. I'm very pleased with them so far, they've exceeded my expectations in everything except for road noise.

Second that on the Pilot Super Sports. I love them. Very quite for a high performance tire and great treadlife for one too. I'd rather pay a little more to get everything I want than cheap-out and have to compromise.
