FINDING: JDM Frameless Mirror sourced from US - $80!!

LATEST UPDATE
The part number is SU003-03183 with "SU" denoting a Subaru part in the Toyota parts database.

You are now able to order these through your favorite Toyota parts dealer (online ones such as partznet.com and toyotapartszone.com are usually the cheapest) using that part number. I believe this is due to the 10 Series FR-S coming equipped with frameless mirrors. Around $100 + shipping, in stock in the USA!

Previous UPDATE:
Though the mirror piece appears to be exactly the same, I believe the mount is different. The JDM version is a button style mount whereas this Brandmotion one is a D-type (wedge style) mount. From the Brandmotion website, if you drill down to mirrors for the Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ there is a note on the top that says:

"If you are installing a replacement mirror, and the existing mirror mounting is not a wedge style mount, windshield adapter mount 5000-CAMLOCK is required. If you are installing a replacement mirror, and the existing mirror contains homelink buttons, this feature will be lost."

If you look for the 5000-CAMLOCK, it says it applies to 90% of Subarus (and other Japanese makes). I also read the .pdf installation instructions for this adapter and the frameless mirror. From that, I could see the mount is different. You can definitely make it work with this adapter, but it'll end up costing close to the same as the JDM piece. Sorry for the misinformation.

My original post:
Tell me they are not the exact same mirror. Comparison pics of the JDM mirror from @F1point4 vs. USDM Infinity Manual Dimming Mirror 9002-9701.

Right down to the laser-etched number on top and logos/hollowed trapezoids on the back. So a $120 mirror from Japan [actually US to Japan] to your home in 1+ weeks or same mirror for $80 from Michigan to your home in a few days. Up to you. :)

Credz to this nugget of info goes to @Mirror1's nearly 1 year old post buried in the Australia/NZ regional section which I didn't believe at first (post count = 1?).

How hard would it be to swap this for my homelink mirror? I really don't care of the auto-dimming and I don't have a garage. Plus the frameless mirror looks beautiful.

The back bracket part, one has a nub, other is well "different" you sure these are same and will mount securely the same???
Anyone else beside bradmotion or amazon that has these, fakin bradmotion wants me to use some bongo crap for shipping and amazon doesen't ship this to Canada, what garbage :(.

Sorry if this is a noob question but what is the advantage of these particular rear view mirrors?

The mount may be different. I'll have more news on it for you in a day or two. Kind of impulsively ordered it. So if all goes well I'll let everyone know

edit:
The description does say, "Universal application for all standard windshield wedge-mount designs" so hopefully it'll work

That is not the problem...I was not sure how the home link mirror was mounted. It has a bit to cover the wire up to the headliner and the frameless mirror does not; which means the whol braket should have to come off. Is the mount for the homelink mirror glued on; or is it fastened some other way?

Sorry for the misinformation guys, but I believe the mount is different. The JDM version is a button style mount whereas this Brandmotion one is a D-type (wedge style) mount. If you drill down to Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ mirrors there is a note on the top that says:

From that, I could see the mount is different. You can definitely make it work with this adapter, but it'll end up costing close to the same as the JDM piece but with more pieces/parts being used. Sorry again, seems it was TGTBT :( but I still hope one of these guys get lucky and find it fits.

Good thing I was not able to order it, I am too impulsive lol.

UnOvertime 06-26-2013 03:21 PM

Strange thing about the pdf installation guide is that the BRZ says it needs the 5000 camlock piece, but the FR-S has no such note. I am sure this is probably just an oversight by the company. Worst thing that happens is either I end up with an additional mirror for another vehicle or I will return it to Amazon.
