Will get the samples tested (and document pretty much everything on the car), but figured you guys would like to see the difference at 1665 miles on the odometer.

Note: I drove the car back from Colorado to Los Angeles, with a stint through Las Vegas > LA in 105+ this past week.

Are you using the regular ENEOS or the Sustina?

Barbarian 06-25-2013 11:12 PM

I would be interested to see the Eneos at 1665 vs. the factory at 1665

I don't think the black color means anything..does it? Other than being used oil.

mav1178 06-26-2013 03:59 AM

Will be regular ENEOS as I have leftover bottles in the garage... but I'm doing several comparisons with my oil analysis and trying to extend the interval properly without harming the engine.

As for black color, it doesn't mean anything... but even after 1500 miles from the factory, it's quite dark.

Can anyone direct me to the cheapest place you've found to buy Eneos Sustina?

I believe that the darker factory fill may also be from the assembly lube. It will be hard to tell whether or not the factory oil is actually dirty since it will have high silicon from the sand-casted engine parts and sealers.

Color means nothing.

Lonewolf 07-01-2013 01:30 PM

In for oil analysis results...

Kind of a waste of a test, but I am interested in testing out oil change intervals to save money in the long run (for everyone)...

Most likely will test at 2500/5000/7500 to see how far out I can stretch oil changes.

Is this with or without an oil change between each of these intervals? If you use Blackstone, don't forget to get a TBN.

I'm not going to change oil at only 2500 miles, that's just wasting resources. I've done Blackstone tests many times in the past and my previous post already implies TBN testing since without that, I have no idea how much additives I have left...
