These are the best matched lowering springs to the OEM dampers imho. They are also well matched to the Koni dampers as well. Oh man. I'm tempted! I work in San Clemente and a straight damper/spring swap would be perfect. If you still have these once I get some money in, I'm game.

These springs are designed to be installed using the OEM damper. These springs are specifically designed for either the BRZ or the FRS damper rates. After uninstalling the OEM damper and spring unit from the car you have to uninstall/uncompress the OEM spring which can be a dangerous job if you do not know what you're doing. Once the OEM spring is removed from OEM damper using a spring compressor then you have to reverse the steps to compress the RCE spring onto the OEM damper again. It's a easy process if you have the right tools. It's outright dangerous if you do not. I'm simply offering a plug n' play option if the buyer wants my dampers already preassembled with the RCE springs on them in exchange for their OEM stuff. I'm assuming most buyers will have relatively low miles on their dampers (like I have) to where the mileage/wear won't really matter to me. I'm not sure how to describe it any better. Anyone local to you should just go for the direct swap of strut/spring assemblies. Less labor, less time, less hassle, and you only need an alignment at the end.
Compressing the springs requires a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/OEM-25550-Strut-Spring-Compressor/dp/B000CMDPLM"]$20-50 tool[/ame] and an impact gun (directions say no impact guns, but are you REALLY going to try and spin the compressor with a wrench? No you aren't, you lazy bum). It's easy...but it's not exactly fun and it's time consuming. Realistically an assembled set of struts should take less than 2 hours to do from removal to installation. Removing your assembly, disassembling it, removing his, disassembling it, then reassembling both, THEN bolting them to the car is a waste of time if he's offering his assembled struts. |
