Consumer Reports FR-S and BRZ weight

I'm not sure if this is already common knowledge, but I was surprised to see this in the latest issue of CR:

This has to be a typo lol. A 270 lb difference? :bellyroll:

Typo, the numbers should be the same until specific trim levels are confirmed.

OrbitalEllipses 03-01-2012 07:19 PM

Very likely a typo considering the numbers are the same albeit in a different order.

EDIT: When'd the Boxster hit over 3000lbs?

maxeveland 03-01-2012 07:23 PM

i would think that the limited brz would be heavier than a base frs with no options

schlomo 03-01-2012 07:24 PM

Right I assume they meant 2,690lbs for both.

Nice find. I would probably not paid attention to that.

A lot of folks here managed to switch MSRP with MRSP so I'm sure CS can switch up a 6 and a 9. :bellyroll:

HAHAHA

pete66 03-01-2012 08:33 PM

not a typo

LEts star figuring out how to reduce those extra 90lbs.
-spare tire out! 40lbs?
-Lighter battery in 20lbs
-exhaust change 10lbs
-rear seat 30lbs?

there you go 100lbs less that easy!
:happyanim:

Those might be a bit overzealous, at least regarding the rear seat and spare tire. A motorcycle/Miata battery still weighs 15lbs, IIRC.

Thats the plan! Well I'm leaving the spare in when DDing.

And eventually getting 2-peice rotors (probably just on the front)
~10 lbs rotational mass

And taking a nice *expletive* before each event
~2 lbs doody mass

Don't over think this.
