We should start a dealer BRZ order database

I was just thinking that we should start a forum-wide database of dealerships and their order status.

We could break it down by state, city, dealer name, number of allocated vehicles, number of orders already loaded into system, and then we could memo the forum members who know their place in line at that dealer.

This would be a huge benefit to forum members who have not yet been able to place an order. Perhaps they stopped by there local dealer and found that all 5 cars allotted for the year have already been spoken for.. So they could check out database and perhaps find that another dealership nearby has an allotment of 7 cars and only 4 have been ordered..

In addition, this would be the foundation of an excellent registry for the initial group of BRZ owners..

One more benefit would be in helping people who have orders in start to get a feel for when they should expect deliver of their cars.. We could update our status when we find out more data... If someone was # 3 in line at a dealership with an allotment of 9 cars and they just found out they were getting their car soon... then someone who is #4 in line at dealer with an allotment of only 6 cars might have a better prediction of needing to wait another couple months..

Sure this would be a lot of work.. there are what.. 540 dealerships? So we'd have to have a lot of members from all over the country contribute by calling local dealers and asking for the data.. but I think we could get people to jump on board and help out...

All you would have to do is call the dealer, ask how many BRZ's they were allotted... how many orders they had in.. and perhaps what price they were asking.. that might be interesting as well...

Any thoughts??

Also, buyer beware info to point out dealers who shaft their costumers.

I'd be up for creating a google map with all of the dealerships in the U.S. I know thats a major undertaking, but I've got some time to kill at work today.

Order database sounds like a good idea. That way we'll have one central place for information on people's order statuses without 50 people starting threads saying they were just notified that their car is at port.

here we go keep it in there. Brzerhood Unite :)

Sounds like a plan to me!

Manny the Map King.

You're thread is a good start to collecting data Zaku.. but it's not exactly what I had in mind for an end product..

It's going to turn into 30 pages of random data that noone is going to want to read through completely to get the answers they are looking for.

What we really need is a google doc or a wiki of some type that can be organized and updated and then sorted and filtered for data.

The Google Map idea is excellent.. btw..

If it wasnt easily recognized I cant do anything youve mentioned without data. Manny already started the map. Well Take it a step at a time. It will work out.

I agree. Pages and pages won't do much. People will just post and not follow the thread any more.

I agree.. we have to start the process by collecting the data. I just wasn't sure if that was your intention, or if your thread was meant to be the final product.

Perhaps you could edit the initial list of data points to include information about the dealership the members ordered from: How many car allocated, how many orders filled, what pricing deals are they offering (MSRP/under/over).. Those are the bits of data that will be most interesting to people accessing this database.

Zaku 03-01-2012 01:43 PM

Alright added, we'll collect data for now and then get a team to do all the end product. It too difficult to maintain everything with just one person, till then just sit tight and hope we get in the data we need.

ashtray 03-01-2012 01:53 PM

Can we start a poll thread of what color people ordered too? Maybe 3 polls: color, trim, and trans? Would be interesting to see at least this forum's subset of cars.

Zaku 03-01-2012 01:56 PM

we could but we had problems before with people voting and they did not pre order. SO it made the data not pure and solid. At least with the pre order official thread, there's a Google map that has everyone's trim color and trans information. I'll add a graph or something after we get more data.
