DC Sports Cat-Delete Front Pipe Review

http://a.cdnbrm.com/images/products/.../SCD7049_1.jpg

Bought this bad boy for $130 shipped from AutoAnything off eBay.

After looking at all the options out there for front pipes, I came to the conclusion that a pipe is a pipe lol.

Although there are obvious quality pipes such as Perrin or Motiv, I went the way of the cheap but I was not disappointed.

I intend to keep the stock header and overpipe so this was a steal. After struggling to get the nuts loose from the overpipe to the stock front pipe, everything else was smooth as butter.

Fitment was perfect, everything aligned properly and mated well with my Zeta Stainless Cat Back system.

Results? Actually the sound didn't increase that much over the stock pipe, but initial driving feel tells me that there is a nice gain in the torque dip area and the car pulls a little smoother with better breathing. It definitely burbles a little more due to the 2nd cat being removed but that's what I wanted. :w00t:

Next up will be an Ecutek tune once funds allow to button up and complete my daily driver.

Nope.. I still have the stock catted header and stock overpipe. No issues still after about 1000 miles.

Thanks. I'm still completely stock. Thinking about trying this pipe, but wondering how it will effect the sound. $130 sounds pretty good compared to $600+ for a catback system, which some say doesn't reallyadd any more hp.

Fitment ok?

No sensors on the front pipe so if you run a catted header you will be ok.

sent from a Galaxy SIII...

It's worth a shot.. if anything it will add a little more burble to the exhaust. The stock cat back is pretty tame so don't expect much. If you need more sounds after the pipe goes in you can always save for a cat-back.

I got really lucky with the overall exhaust note on my car.. the front pipe plus my zeta cat-back sounds amazing. It makes me want to drive it every day just to hear it.

Do you happen to have a sound clip of the Zeta catback with the front pipe?

I'll try and get one up if I go for a drive tomorrow. The Zeta is pretty tame and honestly the front pipe didn't do that much to the sounds, but it is noticeable in a good way

+1 on a sound clip.
Hoping the catless pipe opens up the zeta just a bit.

Question

I know you said that it didn't increase the sound overall by that much, but I'm guessing that's because you already have a full catback. All I have is a berk single tip muffler delete, so I was wondering, do you think if I change out my stock front pipe to the DC cat-delete, will it become much louder? I was looking at the berk front pipe, which sounds great and is loud, but it's $200. Since this is cheaper I was thinking about going with this. What do you think? :thanks:

I think you might regret going 1 less cat when you already have no muffler. That would be so loud and droney I personally couldn't do it. I owned the same exhaust you have and couldn't even stand that for more than 3 weeks.
