GT5 Stock GT86 Competition - March 2012

:burnrubber:

I. INTRODUCTION
This is a friendly GT5 "buy and drive" competition in which we race the GT86 (bone stock) on different tracks each month in GT practice mode.

It's just for fun, so even if your time isn't the fastest don't hesitate to join in (and feel free to ask for tips).

II. TRACKS
  1. Cote D'Azur
  2. Rome
Poll for next month's tracks

III. RULES
  1. Stock car (no mods, aftermarket rims, tuning, aero, or anything!)
  2. Traction Contol = Off
  3. ABS = 0 or 1
  4. Grip = Real
  5. Stock Sport Hard tires
  6. Driving line is allowed, but not recommended (it's a crutch with little-to-no advantages... and the game is more fun without it)
  7. No other aids
  8. Oil change, engine rebuild, and chassis restoration are allowed
  9. Valid lap times only
  10. No cheating!

IV. SUBMISSIONS
Attach/link a screenshot showing your time and please post your results in this format (so I can copy/paste):
[Track]
[Time] - [Name] - [Controller] - [Transmission]
Where:
Controller =
  • DS (PS3 dualshock 3 / SixAxis)
  • 6AXS (PS3 original SixAxis)
  • LDF (Logitech Driving Force)
  • DFGT (Logitech Driving Force GT)
  • G25 (Logitech G25)
  • G27 (Logitech G27)
  • 911GT2 (Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2)
  • 911TS (Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S)
  • CSRE (Fanatec CSR Elite)
  • T500 (Thrustmaster T500RS)
  • etc
Transmission =
  • AT
  • Clutch
  • Paddles
  • Sequential
  • Buttons (i.e. when shifting with a DS)
Example:
Top Gear
1:23.240 - Deslock - G27 - Clutch
Submissions will be accepted until midnight EST on the last day of the month. You can resubmit as you improve your laps, but only your best time per track per transmission will be listed (so if you want to submit for both paddles and clutch, you can).

Please PM me if I haven't added a time within a couple days (in case I missed it).

V. GHOST REPLAYS
This is optional, but feel free to attach your ghost replays. Post yours and ask for pointers. Or if you're good, help out the rest of us by showing us how it's done!

Dude, you need a better camera phone :D

Just kidding, I can read it just fine. I hope to get in a few laps tonight.

My first attempt. Need a bit more practice, I can only manage to shave fractions of a second off most laps.

Did a few laps @Monaco. No 'clean' laps to speak of, lol, but I'll be shooting for a low 1:54.x for now.

Can we get this moved to off topic please. Thanks.

For reals?

With the possible exception of GT5's Sport Hard tires probably being stickier than the real car's, this thread is about driving a realistic GT86 simulator. It makes more sense being in GT86 General than Off-topic (which is for BS unrelated to the FT86).

And since only 8 threads in GT86 General have been posted in today, it's not like the this forum is overloaded.

Why does this thread's presence bother you?

A) This thread has nothing to do with the real FRS
B) This is a post about a video game that fits perfectly within the confines of off topic
C) Look where the Forza 4 thread is located and ask yourself why this thread belongs here
D) nothing wrong with the thread, just doesn't belong in this section

switchlanez 03-03-2012 10:08 PM

My opinion: This thread is very relevant and should get stickied monthly in this section. When the FR-S is out and driven on tracks, enthusiasts can upload CAN-BUS data to GT5 threads like these.

dsgerbc 03-03-2012 10:59 PM

Meh, I don't care where this thread is. Long-term it's going to off-topic for sure, so might as well be moved there right away.

I find it amazing how some people feel the need to play forum admins. Why don't you report the thread or PM an admin to get it moved if it means that much to you...you know, something constructive?

Not saying I don't agree it belongs in the off topic section, but why act like Mr. Serious instead of reporting the issue to an admin?

Zaku 03-04-2012 12:56 AM

He's right you know it is kind of in the wrong place, that and it was quiet annoying that in the last couple of months you have to weed to the Section to find this thread.

I the future I think it might find a place up here.

The Forza one is pretty easy to get too, I do feel for those people though they just want to have fun but they don't have the 86 in their game yet.

Also... that GT5 sync thing.. yeah the car isn't even here it might not even be here till who knows when, with the delay on how long it took GT5 to come out I'm not going to count on the feature to be available till the cars are all over the place.

Bottom line is it's in the wrong place, and reported or not mods aren't around 24/7 the FRS section is a mess to begin with give em a break. They are working hard. They are only 3 people after all.

gt86mods 03-04-2012 01:01 AM

This forum clearly needs more admins. Between people talking trash constantly and threads popping up in the wrong places, it's way too much for them to handle. That and every day it's growing as demand for the cars grow & people find their way here.

Like I said, I agree it belongs in the off topic...I just find it amusing when people have such an attitude about something so small and insignificant.
