The problem is most people are okay with a knock off copy of a product that may not have all the same performance benefits but will at least look the same. Seibon isn't necessarily more efficient in manufacturing, they just don't have the costs to offset and can probably get away with using materials of lesser quality than Voltex.

That's under the assumption that Voltex wind tunnel tests, which I doubt. If they were going to be playing the hard-core super-racing equipment card, with all wind tunnel testing, etc... they should have the data and pics plastered all over their site, which they don't. And would also likely be pre-preg dry layup with aramid honey-comb core products, rather than ordinary wet layup.
The issue with a lot of the real 'JDM' manufacturers is that being for their Domestic market, they've been rather insulated from competition. Japanese abhor buying foreign. If all of the JDM companies are using labour intensive manufacturing with Japanese salary and wages, competing internationally will be fantastically difficult.
Interesting thing, is while I may sound pro-knock-off, I'm absolutely not. It's something that I may myself have to address in the near future, and it may be tough. That being said, using knock offs as an excuse for your own inefficiency and meh business practice is not the solution. If they will just complain instead of reworking their processes and plans, they are doomed, and are themselves a significant part of the problem.
