Borla Header Rattle Noise

I am getting a rattle noise coming from the 2 collectors with the flex tube. Does any body have this problem? Is it even a problem due to the thin metal? Thanks

I think another member posted up that occasionally the header would bump/rub on the skid plate underneath...He used spacers on the plate to correct the issue

Borla Header rattle

I installed my Borla header may 10th 2013.

My car had about 3700KM and now my car have 6100KM.

My header started to rattle about 2 weeks ago but it was very subtle and not all the time.

Last week, the rattle become more perceptive and more often.

This week, I did some hard start to try my new ecutek launch control and now my header is rattling all the time especially when the car is warm.

The noise is coming from the collector where all 4 tubes are merging together before the flange that connect to the overpipe.

The rattle ( like a metal vibration ) is happening between 2 000 and 3000 rpm only and it is annoying me.

It remind me one of those honda civic with a fart can sound.

Very disapointing.....

I'll see what Chris at Borla customer's service have to say about that.

By the way my header is not touching the metal skid plate underneath the car. I did put some shims just to make sure but like I tought it has nothing to do with the metal rattle noise.

As a precaution I also removed the metal heat shield around the stock overpipe just to make sure it wasnt the source of my problem.

See the answer I got from Borla.
I never saw a USA company with such a great customer service of my entire life.
I agree that Borla have some problems with the launch of this new product but at least they stand up at a 100% behind their loyal customers.

Hello Kevin,

I am very sorry to hear your replacement header has failed, it sounds like you may have received a faulty flex section on your header if it has failed so soon. We use flex section on many of our exhaust systems and headers successfully without consistent issue. We would like to send you a replacement header and pay for the re-installation of the newest header and gasket. If that is OK with you please let me know and I will have an order processed immediately.

Thank you,

Let me know how much they reimburse you for the install/gaskets. I've gone through 4 sets of gaskets and countless times removing-reinstalling until I got my current good header

Wow, Borla treats our members much better than Magnaflow (aka: we're too big to care about you)

I have this same problem from 2000-3000 RPM!

You have to send them the invoice receipt of your gaskets purchase and they will send you a check to reimburse.

Myself It will be my third header installation.

It cost about 25$ for the grimmspeed pair gasket for the engine to header flange.

It cost another 20$ for the oem crush gasket between the header and the overpipe.

Unfortunately Borla are currently already out of stock from their last production batch.

The next production run is due for july 12th. So I'm not going to be fix before mid july.

Whelp I have been having the same idle-3k rattle issues as well. Decided to go underneath and test the whole exhaust system. Only part that rattled was the header flex sections. @AlvinT@Borla ?

follow up: borla says there was an issue with flex sections in one batch of headers. already have my warranty claim number and the new one is scheduled to ship the end of next week when the most current batch is complete

the customer service really is good. replacement exactly when they told me id have it, install/gaskets are covered after paid invoice is sent in, they schedule for fedex to pick up the defective unit at my convenience and address of choice. plus communication was very easy and fast. it sucks to have problems, but at least the company stands behind it
