This is why you say NO to free dealership washes!
So I picked up my car this weekend from a nearby dealership...

great pics. This is exactly why with even brand new cars I sometimes anticipate a lot of correction work. You never know. great save
|
wow.
Not cool, good job bringing it back the way it should be though |
What did you use?!
|
nice job dude.
you should have seen my car. had swirls and was covered in dust/dirt/and caked mud |
Looks great!
|
I hope a bill was sent to the dealership, that was hacked by them!
Cheers, GREG |
Great Job, looks better than new!!
|
I'm very thankful mine was perfectly polished when I picked it up, not a scratch or swirl anywhere. It was probably the best pre-delivery prep I've ever experienced. Now no one has or will ever touch it but me.
Nice job bringing yours back from the dark side... I'd send the dealer an invoice for your time! |
"Anyone seen the wash mitt?, I can't find it anywhere"
"Here, try this 180 grit sandpaper instead" |
Looks like someone just used that wheel-washing-brush-on-a-stick on the entire car.

I paid someone to do it professionally. Totally worth the money and the dealer is cutting me a check for the polishing as we speak. |
It was good of the dealership to own up to the damage. I'm happy your horror story had a happy ending!
|
Awesome that the dealer took care of you - looks great now!!
|
My dealer did it without asking, they must have found their mitt, though, no damage to the paint, at least that I spotted.
|
|
I would have thrown the biggest shit fit you have ever seen. Im sorry this happened to ypu

The same thing happened to me, but the dealer offered to remove the scratches as well as 2 large ones. In process of doing so they put 3 more in and never addressed the swirling. To top it off they forgot the body plugs during the pdi and I drove all winter on corrosive roads and now have rust in my frame.
|
great recovery...I'm done with my dealer for service...they did that to mine and then some.
|
Looks amazing now! Swirls really show with that color too damn. I'm sure mine is close to being as bad but whiteout only reveals its scars in the right light hahaha

Every solid axle 4x4 with any amount of suspension travel I've ever owned has done this.
Google 4x4 flex |
It's called suspension articulation
totally normal |
I just purchased my 13' WRX from a dealership and literally had to run to stop the guys from dealer prepping the vehicle as it was being driven from the transport truck. No matter how many times you tell the salesperson you can never be to careful. After I got there I was even more shocked to find they were not using sponges, or mitts or even boars hair brushes. The brush they were using to wash the care had stiff green bristles and I'd bet my car it could be just as affective being a broom.
It's sad as so many clients come to me for new car prep's after similar things have happened to their vehicles. It's to bad, proper education at dealership would stop alot of heartache and expense. |
They ran my car through that blue pos car wash did the same thing to mine and I even got a lil blue piece in between my headlight and fender. What made me mad is my windows were so dirty and I try n try to clean them it just takes time to get all that factory crap away
|
My car got delivered with lovely swirls as well....
It's only really noticeable on the trunk lid like you had. I spent most of the day yesterday doing a complete wash, clay bar, polish, then wax with Adam's stuff. I think I may need to get some better polish to get rid of it all. Is it possible via hand with polish, or did you use a machine? |
You'll never get as far by hand as you can with a machine.

Great point. I've had a couple of clients take delivery of new cars then get reimbursed for my correction work after the dealer preps / swirls it. I'm sure you've had the same. |
Quote:
Probably do but the swirl damage is from improper washing by hand by a guy in a hurry  |

I was lucky not to have any swirls, but did get hit with a few spots of touch up paint. It was done right though, color sanded & polished over. Didn't bother me much, just didn't think a new car should come that way
