Solid rear axel. His drivers side tire is in the ditch you see in the picture causing it to be off camber.

Every solid axle 4x4 with any amount of suspension travel I've ever owned has done this.

Google 4x4 flex

It's called suspension articulation

totally normal

I just purchased my 13' WRX from a dealership and literally had to run to stop the guys from dealer prepping the vehicle as it was being driven from the transport truck. No matter how many times you tell the salesperson you can never be to careful. After I got there I was even more shocked to find they were not using sponges, or mitts or even boars hair brushes. The brush they were using to wash the care had stiff green bristles and I'd bet my car it could be just as affective being a broom.

It's sad as so many clients come to me for new car prep's after similar things have happened to their vehicles. It's to bad, proper education at dealership would stop alot of heartache and expense.

They ran my car through that blue pos car wash did the same thing to mine and I even got a lil blue piece in between my headlight and fender. What made me mad is my windows were so dirty and I try n try to clean them it just takes time to get all that factory crap away

My car got delivered with lovely swirls as well....
It's only really noticeable on the trunk lid like you had. I spent most of the day yesterday doing a complete wash, clay bar, polish, then wax with Adam's stuff. I think I may need to get some better polish to get rid of it all. Is it possible via hand with polish, or did you use a machine?

Richard Cranium 07-19-2013 11:08 AM

You'll never get as far by hand as you can with a machine.

Great point. I've had a couple of clients take delivery of new cars then get reimbursed for my correction work after the dealer preps / swirls it. I'm sure you've had the same.

Probably do but the swirl damage is from improper washing by hand by a guy in a hurry

Yes you need better polishes, those are good for weekend warriors. You really can't get rid of swirls on MOST paints by hand. A DA machine and some good quality liquids and pads will likely set things right.

I was lucky not to have any swirls, but did get hit with a few spots of touch up paint. It was done right though, color sanded & polished over. Didn't bother me much, just didn't think a new car should come that way

Symmetrical 07-21-2013 12:38 AM

Wow... I was lucky for some reason my BRZ had zero swirls even though they washed it. I haven't even needed to polish it yet, just straight to LSP.
