Need Coilover Advice for combined Street Comfort + Track Use
 

Was wondering if anyone could suggest some coilovers for combined street and track use. This is my DD but I track it on the weekends and would like a system I can adjust stiff for the track and loosen it up on the street.

These are my thoughts so far:

KW V3's - Great reviews, but lack of top-hat and some concerns regarding their value have been raised. Many people say that with this particular system you end up paying more for the name than anything else.

Powered By Max (PBM) - Not many reviews on the frs, but plenty of other platforms can vouch for PBMs amazing value and stiff ride. My only concern is that many people say they are SUPER stiff, even on their softest setting and make for a pretty uncomfortable street ride. Also some individuals are concerned that they look like cheap chinaparts posing as Taiwanese engineering.

Eibach - So many options here that I get confused. Reviews are all over the place and just dont have much info on them but I'm definitely interested.

Any input on the RCE 0 or II vs Eibach R1?

I have the Tarmac 0's and those are good for a DD, but they do not offer the adjustments you are looking for. The 0's are only height adjustable.

However the Tarmac II's have the adjustments you are looking for. I cannot speak for the R1's, but I have been nothing but pleased by RCE's products (I had the yellows before the Tarmac 0's).

PBMs are awesome but aggressive. They wont be very comfy for the street. KWs are awesome.

I hate fortune auto with a deep burning passion. I dont like any of their products.

Yeah nothing but good reviews on the Tarmacs. The Tarmac II is definitely on my shortlist for now. I also got some advice that if I'm really planning on tracking my car once or twice a month then I might benefit from going a little higher in price for something like the Ohlins Road and Track.

We've been running KW on anything from our FR-S to our new project Panamera. Definitely not as user friendly as a setup with predetermined settings, but for all out adjustment or rebound and dampening its worth the money for the difference in track use. Vorshlag top mounts are available and almost a standard with any of the KW sets I've sold to the 86 crowd..

In my experience, suspension is one of those cases where you actually get what you pay for.

stiff does not equal fast. your best bet is to contact some dealers and have them convince you why product a is better than product b. or maybe go to the track and just see what is fast at the places you want to drive. people are going to have polarizing opinions on the internet.

I have ran the Cusco for street they feel amazing and can handle the track very well. I found them to be a bit too soft for really aggressive track days, well I had a small issue(which was completely and totally my fault due to brief moment of stupidity) and I damaged my Cusco coilovers, so I managed to pick up a set of FEAL coilovers because I met ODI at a drift event and figure why not try his out, I really enjoy these coilovers as well. If I had to do it all over I would still pick up the Cusco's for street, but the Feals feel amazing on track as well. Tein also makes an amazing coilover with the pillowball mounts, got a ride in a friends car and they felt solid, not too stiff as I would have expected.

We have Tein Coilovers on our FR-S, nice drop and solid performance for the price.

I haven't heard anything bad about Eibach or KW either, they make a quality product

The Tein street flex would fit the bill without breaking the bank.
