BONSAI!! Does anyone grow/like Bonsai?

Hey guys,
So I am heavily into growing bonsai. Yes, as in miniature trees. This is my passion/hobby.
Is anyone else into growing, or even just admiring bonsai??
Would love to know/talk about it :D
Hell I'd be happy if anyone here knew what real bonsai was!!

Not yet, but I´m itrigued by it and always wanted to start growing them!

Maybe now!

You definitely should mate :) You guys in EU have much better collected (ie wild mountain trees) available than we do here, all of our stock is (90% anyway) grown in nurseries and not very old. You can potentially have access to several hundred year old stock :D
The bonsai scene is very big in EU.

My house does admire plants in our house because it helps us relax and be tranquil. I think now we should buy some seeds and try.

You will be waiting a long time if you buy seeds, and will likely get bored :P Buy some more advanced material to get a some results quicker:)

I always loved bonsai trees, but I was never really motivated enough to read about how to cut plants or... that stuff. Lol

I WANT ONE SO I CAN START! :D

What advanced materials do you speak of?

I have a cheap one that I picked up from the grocery store. It's got me intersted in getting more. I really want the old Karate Kid Bonsai. I can search but does anyone know off the top of their head what kind of tree that was?

It was a Juniper

I've always wanted a bonsai tree, but never got around to actually buying one.

Giccin –LOL it can be a bit involved, but you should definitely get one!! It’s a really relaxing and interesting hobby :) I have been hooked for a few years now. Probably 5 or so. I have over 100trees :P Most not in bonsai pots yet, but developing :)
You can never stop at one haha.
My avatar is one of my trees.

Zeta – Sorry mate, what I meant was buy a tree or two that are already a little more advanced. Ones that are small trees, not just seeds. The problem with seeds is that it will take 5+years to get good results, depending on what species of tree you grow. You can get material that is as little as a pencil, or smaller, up to trees with a diameter of 30cm, or more. Larger trees are much more expensive to buy though.

Genki – What kind of tree did you get? M-17 is correct, the Karate Kid tree is a juniper. But then there are several species of juniper as well :P

Manny – I will say what I am saying to everyone else.... GO AND GET ONE :P Haha. Apparently there is a collection on display at the Arnold Arboretum just south of Boston? (i noticed you were in Boston) Not sure on where to purchase near though, sorry dude.

^^I have no idea. I got it from Kroger (big grocery store chain in the US) for 20 bucks lol

I planted some Bonzai seeds once, but then realized that I would need a few years to really see any progress. Then I just bought a bonsai tree. Love the art form however.
