TRD vs Perrin CAI

Hey guys,

Got myself a Perrin 2.5" non res cat back the other day and let me just say.....wonderful...... Anyway time for the intake. I mainly am looking for an intake to provide the increased throttle response and cool sound factor. So to those out there who have owned/used/seen BOTH of these intake let me know what you think. If I go Perrin I will also be doing the inlet tube as well so price range is practically the same +/- $75~ish. I am aware of the front bumper removal with the Perrin so please don't talk about how hard or easy it is because I frankly don't care about that.

So what will it be:
Perrin CAI
TRD CAI

Perrin. At least you know you're getting something with a great design compared to a big box with a big K&N filter. Looks much better too. I've got both the inlet tube and the CAI. It's very loud. Sound generator removal is awesome too because it is not needed.

Above 4k rpm, this intake screams. Absolutely 0 bogging, no tune *required* but just like any intake, a tune will show its true performance. I am very happy with mine.

Thanks for not being a wuss about the bumper removal. It's truly easy for anyone even without mechanical skill.

Seems like any aftermarket intake screams after 4k rpm. I'm so happy once I'm in the powerzone.

Perrin/FA20club intakes have similar design and look the best for its functionality. I really don't care about power difference on intake. It's not worth to discuss, argue about the power difference. Just enjoy whatever you purchase, can't go wrong with the sound.

It is always funny to me when people think an air box design is bad. Those intakes everyone is making are the cheapest/easiest thing possible. I could make one of similar quality myself over a weekend. It is just mandrel bends with a generic filter at the end. That is not to say that they are not effective, however. But don't think it is a better design than a molded box. They are just very different approaches.

At the end of the day they will both perform nearly the same for the average bolt on car. I got the trd intake for smog and warranty reasons. If you don't have to worry about either of those then get whatever you like the best. The filter on a stick type intakes (perrin, fa20, injen, etc) will generate the most noise if that is what you are after.

I heard that the AEM intake sort of dies out above 4k.....
Can anybody confirm that?

i like my trd airbox, runs and idles way better than the injen i had. not as obnoxiously loud. although the perrin does look like a quality unit, tough decision. im sure the perrin would have a bit more sound to it.
