TRD: does TRD hold much significance anymore?
I parked next to a Tundra today that had a snazzy TRD logo painted on the rear sides.
How mean fulfill is TRD when it appears on work duty trucks? Don't get me wrong, I have much respect for the Tundra as my dad has one. Maybe someone can give me a quick and dirty on TRD..... |
They race them offroad and in stadiums with dirt track and jumps.
Not often in street form, they're usually heavily modified. Most unfortunate acronym though. "HA HA! You bought a TuRD!" |
I know at least in NASCAR they developed, tested and built the massive V8 in the Camry's they run. I'm not sure how much of that technology trickles down to consumer products but they have had success in other racing series as well. No strangers to the track.

Probably has upgraded shocks and tires/rims from what I've seen on most TRD tundras. I think it's all tacked on by the dealer that anything with a "sporty" upgrades gets the TRD badging. There's stuff like the Baja Tacoma and Trails team FJ but those really don't wear the TRD badge.

trd meant something 1980's-2002 now its just flashy... lol
for the FRS though, they got some pretty cool stuff that is functional |
Best thing about TRD parts... CARB certified + warranty.

Cant remember the last time TRD was something of significance.
|
My father in law has a Tundra with TRD written all over it. Top of the line shit were talking about here, you cant get it anywhere else!
|
Yeah, TRD has offroad parts for pickup trucks. Same as the Nismo Frontier or to a more extreme level, the SVT Raptor.
|
TRD USA and TRD Japan (Toyota Technocraft) are completely different and unrelated entities.
TRD Japan produces most of the good stuff, but is pricey. TRD USA produces truck accessories and stickers, for the most part. It is somewhat anomalous that they are producing the exhausts and intakes available in the US. |
The TRD Tundras have small upgrades like rear diff, bilstein shocks etc.
It really should come with the TRD Supercharger to set it apart from lower level models. |
TRD on tundra= locking diff, and yes it makes a whole lot of difference combined with the suspension package.

Well when you ask about TRD parts which type of TRD parts are you talking about the real JDM TRD parts or the U.S.TRD parts..??
The only thing good about TRD parts is the ones sold in the U.S. runs with your factory warranty if you let the dealer install the parts other than that I see no point saying they are any better than aftermarket parts. Those so called TRD package cars and trucks Toyota sells are 100% profit for the dealers and Toyota as you can buy the same parts after the fact and save money. Oh those "snazzy TRD logos" on the Tundra are stickers I took mine off on the first week of ownership. ;) No TRD Sticker here....:D http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/...dra/MyWork.png |
I want to run my FR-S stock for a while first. Then maybe in spring '14 I will add the TRD exhaust and other bits.
What's JDM stand for. Japan-something-Made? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
