Scion FR-S pricing found in website HTML?! (Update: Same as 2011 xD Pricing)

UPDATE: Turns out the pricing in the html are the same exact figures as the 2011 xD prices. Webmaster likely used that as a template for the pricing code in the FR-S website's html

Long time lurker, but that's not why you opened this thread... take a look at this!

Direct copy and paste from the View > Source of the Scion FRS page (http://www.scion.com/cars/FR-S/index.html):

"
<divclass="content-container">
<divclass="model-detail-block">

<!-- <div class="model-price-block">

<span class="small-copy">manual msrp<span class="asterisks">*</span></span>
</p>
<p>
<span>$16,640</span>
<span class="small-copy automatic-copy">automatic msrp<span class="asterisks">*</span></span>
</p>
</div> -->
<!-- <p>estimated mpg: 27 city / 33 highway MPG est**</p> -->

Before I get too excited, I know they could easily come in and change those numbers with a few backspaces and a few number keys... but if that is the price of the FRS... :happyanim::happyanim::happyanim::happyanim::happy anim::happyanim:

That price is impossible.

2fast4you 02-26-2012 04:43 AM

Place holder? Apple is notorious for doing things like that.

However, if that really was the price... I'd run over my own mother to get to the dealership.

WhiteFang 02-26-2012 04:44 AM

I agree... but it's there...

Maybe a cruel joke by one of the web admins for Scion?

The web admins have shown to be a bit off (understatement) when it comes to FR-S info. That said, there is no way the FR-S will start lower than the tC, or even the iQ for that matter.

While I see that pricing being way too low, if it "is" the pricing that will be. What would that make the BRZ pricing? Speculate away!

poormans_LFA 02-26-2012 05:06 AM

i would NOT get excited.

A place holder to make the code easy to edit when the time comes. They could also be dropping hints without violating the embargo...

<!-- <div class="model-price-block">
<p>
<span>$25,840</span>
<span class="small-copy">manual msrp<span class="asterisks">*</span></span>
</p>
<p>
<span>$26,640</span>
<span class="small-copy automatic-copy">automatic msrp<span class="asterisks">*</span></span>
</p>
</div> -->
<!-- <p>estimated mpg: 27 city / 33 highway MPG est**</p> -->

If that's true, I predict:
BRZ Premium = high 26k to low 27k
BRZ Limited = low to mid 28k

Automatic transmission costing an $800 more.

that looks pretty realistic. this would make the brz prem. at least 26k for the premium and probably 28k for the limited.

switchlanez 02-26-2012 05:33 AM

^Yeah, I edited my post with BRZ prices that agree w/ your predictions.

Believable and probably accurate; $25,840 makes it $10 more than the MX-5 Touring, however, only $910 less than the GC 3.8 R-Spec.

Dillano609 02-26-2012 05:50 AM

I'm really hoping it starts off a grand cheaper from these pricing speculations, maybe they'll release official prices soon? We know who manages the FR-S section of the site has made mistakes before..... Keeping my fingers crossed

@switchlanez This is very possible. Good Find!
