Any UFC fans?
Woot, 144 gonna be good.
|
Good fights still can't believe okami botech
And btw I consider myself a MMA fan rather a ufc fan. |
I haven't watched in a while and didn't see 144. I'm gonna watch 145 to watch Jones vs. Evans. I'm not the biggest fan though of UFC.

Same but to be honest there's too many promotions to follow. It's like the UFC is the equivalent of the NBA for Basketball, NHL for Hockey, etc. I like hockey but I can't be bothered to really watch anything other than NHL games. Well, WHL every now and again so bad example but you get the picture... :P
I catch Bellator every now and again, every Dream (even though it means I don't get to sleep that day), every Strikeforce and UFC, and once in a blue moon something that pops up on HDNET. I guess I'd consider myself more a fight fan than just an MMA fan even though I'm not really so much into boxing, will only watch Mayweather/Pacquiao and the Klitschko's but I absolutely love Kickboxing. Once again though only the bigger promotions. I have to admit though that if I could only watch one I would choose the UFC hands down. I was actually considering a parlay with Boetsch since the odds were so good. Would've lost though because it would've included Rampage. But yeah, great card. Wish a card remotely close to that good would come to Vancouver. |

That was crazy what "the barbarian" did, it was like some sort of modified one handed clinch using the cage. I was really rooting for okami too, but what mr boetsch did was impressive. okami couldn't see them coming. my favorite fight was when mark hunt put kongo away. i dislike kongo more than any MMA fighter because he's the #1 cheater / fouler in i've ever seen. always kneeing the groin, punching the back of the head, holding the cage, holding the shorts, headbutting, eye poking, etc... and it was nice to see mark hunt back on his game in full force. for a while it really looked like he had lost his mojo. he was in great shape for this fight, you could almost see his abs, which is remarkable for him. Issei Tamura was amazing too. I hadn't even heard of him before then, and Zhang was showing so much promise. He looked reminicent of Kid Yammamoto in his prime. He also trains at Krazy Bee, Kid's gym. I'll def be watching his fights and trying not to blink. There really is a huge difference in how the Japanese & Brazilians act. The Japanese fans were quiet, & even cheered when the Japanese favorite fighters lost, as long as both fighters gave it their all. The Brazilians were booing, shining laser pointers in the eyes of the non-Brazilians and literally were screaming racist chants at the fighters. For example. Apparently they thought it was funny because it rhymed.I wont be buying any more UFC in Brazil cards, not going to give my money to fights held there. But I'll be buying all the Japanese cards. |
I miss Mirko Krocop (sp?) when he was a bad ass. I went to high school with Rich Franklen. He never really bounced back from that beating Silva gave him. Cincinnati is huge for MMA. We have gyms everywhere but we have a lot of D-bag posers too. I can't stand the guys that wear those Afflicted shirts that are 2 sizes too small.

& yea CroCop (Croatian Cop, he's from Croatia; his last name is actually Filiopvic but nobody calls him that). After his time off between pride & ufc he might not have been training. Plus all those PRIDE fights were wars which can wear guys out or weaken their chin, most PRIDE guys had trouble transfering to the UFC because of the cage & the different rules. There was also speculation about some that used roids in PRIDE and couldnt in UFC (pride didnt drug test). I don't think CroCop did though, his body didn't change much. I think Rich is still a Math teacher at a high school. He really should quit that and train MMA full time if that's true. Or else quit MMA. being in the UFC is not something you can half ass. |
I like MMA and prefer it over boxing but I don't keep up with the UFC that much. A friend of mine who's 5'8 weighing in 145 had to spar with Gabriel Gonzaga. My friend told me he pretty much was toying with him easily and why the hell did he have to spar with him lol. And my favorite fighters would have to be Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, Thiago Alves, Georges St. Pierre, Rashad Evans, and Anderson Silva. Chuck Liddell was pretty much the main reason why I started watching the UFC because of his rival with Tito Ortiz, which made for good matches imo.

I don't think Rich Franklin still teaches. I don't believe he has for quite some time now. Most of the high level guys in the UFC don't have second jobs. One notable exception is Shane Carwin who still has his job as an Engineer. Dana White has pleaded with him to give it up but Carwin isn't a dummy. He's inching closer to 40 and he loves his job. He just takes time off from it when it's time to train seriously.
A lot of these guys don't get paid well enough to not at least have part-time jobs on the side as well. Especially in the smaller organizations. I mean when you think you're fighting 2-3 times a year and only getting paid around $6000 per fight (and roughly get that from sponsors as well per fight) if you fight twice that's only $24,000 if they fight twice. And from that you still need to pay out your gym, etc. It's not an extravagant lifestyle until you get to the top of the division where you can start making millions per fight depending on whether or not you get a cut of the PPV or not. Crocop was definitely a beast. He never really was the same after the Gonzaga fight. As for steroids in Pride. Wanderlei... Nuff said. :P And, I would give my left n.. front wheel to see Sonnen beat the crap out of Silva again (and win). |
I've watched a handful of UFC matches and enjoyed a couple of them. But it seemed like the majority of them just degenerated into "Ground and Pound" which, quite frankly, I find boring and unimpressive.
|
Yeah, it's a shame that it's possible to win by laying on top of somebody and just keep busy enough to not get stood up.
I tried watching the last 2 Klitschko bouts and actually had to skip past the majority of Vitali's. Boxing has become such a chore to watch. Not really sure I can see myself watching another fight unless Pacquiao/Mayweather happens. |
I miss the mid 2000's Pride era. Those Grand Prix shows were epic. The current state of MMA just doesn't do it for me any more

these are what I would like to see happen with mma bring back the yellow card for stalling don't count takedowns unless the bottom guy has his back completely on the ground (even wrestling does this) getting up should count as a point if td count explain how mma is scored half point system instead of a adopting the boxing 10 rd must instead of bonuses for best sub, ko and fight it should be fighters get bonuses for finishing and no bonus for decisions |
.....ho,I see the UFC as the UFO,,,so I am here,,,,
