Lets talk rev limiter.

Is anyone aware of any difference in the brz/86/frs in relation to the rev limiter? I have hit the limit a few times and felt a very severe drop in revs and car lurching forward, is this the car cutting fuel or something else?

I have noticed in a few youtube videos people bouncing off the limiter without it cutting and dropping. IO have hit the limiter mid corner and its scared the shit out of me.

Can anyone demystify or shed some light on this?

Heres a video of what im talking about. The video is the two ft-86 factory cars showing some exhaust options. They both hit the limiter and maintain that high rev with small and frequent drops instead of the massive cut and lurch im experiencing.

Hitting the rev limiter while in neutral vs under load are two very different things. Under load yes fuel will get cut as with most other stock cars.

I'm stock. Is that a result of tuning the limiter in the ecu is it?

I have also experienced this in my BRZ mid-turn. Its very uncool! I believe its related to the traction or stability controls. If you turn off the nannies you should be able to bounce off the rev limiter without the aggressive fuel cut.

it could be the load limits on the stock file

So, I lied.

I just went and actually tested what I suggested.. Aggressive throttle cut for multiple seconds on any setting.

Must be a "feature" of the stock tune :iono:

I made a thread about my rev limiter and how it seems to be different. Didn't get any bites on it though. Someone check this out, sorry i still haven't got any vids!
