RE71R and the Rivals are the two new hot tires, designed to compete and win SCCA Autocross competitions, there's some skepticism that they're actually 200 treadwear rating and will hold up to prolonged street use because they are very aggressive sticky compounds. I suppose Dunlop Direzza ZII and Hankook RS3 may also fall into that category as they are still doing well, they're on the edge of what could be considered a street tire although the Direzza's have a decent rep for durability, I've heard they're commonly chosen for some endurance racing and spec Miata. |

This is not my area of expertise, as I don't normally try to drive fast through large amounts of standing water. |

My transmission is automagic so I have taller gearing and have not decided if/when I'll change the final drive. (I know it's pretty track specific when you get good, but I'm not that good yet. ;) ) I'm just thinking of sidewall stiffness vs roll and if there is any benefit to going shorter since I won't be on the street with these. |

Mine are 245/40ZR17 on 17x9. Skinnier tires may perform even better in the wet. |

There's a track day tomorrow. It's going to be 115 degrees. I don't have any cooling mods. Should I sign up or skip this one?
