Air/hiss sound when depressing brake petal
 

I dropped off my BRZ at the Subaru dealer today for them to check out my GPS problems and get it updated. They ordered the parts and told me that they need to wait until the new sd card and antenna mount come in, so I went to pick up my car.

But when I got into my car and stepped on the brake petal, I hear a loud hissing/air sound. It happens every time I step on the petal. I don't think the sound existed before I dropped it off today. I asked the technician to check it out and he said he didn't hear anything abnormal. They said they only drove my car around the block to try to replicate my gps problem and didn't touch anything else. The brake seems to work fine on the road and they didn't have another manual BRZ for me to compare the sound of the brake petal being depressed.

Does anyone else's manual BRZ make a hissing sound when they step on the petal? Maybe I just haven't noticed it the past 5 weeks driving my new car and suddenly got a more acute sense of hearing?

This is normal for any brake pedal. Get in any other car and try it.

This is my second car. Hmm, maybe I just never realized it made an air sound until now? I don't know how I couldn't missed hearing that sound for a month and a half. Anyway, I feel more safe knowing that its suppose to be normal. I'll just try another BRZ just to be sure when I go back to the dealer for my updated SD card.
