The pursuit of more power, it never ends...the lesson we learn

This is a copy and paste from svtperformance.com. This video is awesome! I actually met the guy when I had my cobra at a dyno day. Cool guy. His supra is CRAZY clean.

In the last part of the video, with the ticking motor, he was actually in line to race my buddy in his 660 hp cobra.

Ironically enough, these were the exact thoughts that led me to sell my cobra and get the FRS. Where would the cobra end? It had turned into a complete money pit. EXACTLY the reason the FRS will remain mostly stock

Enjoy :party0030:

good thing he realized that he was chasing something that wasn't worthwhile and gained a valuable lesson, too bad it cost him a 2jz engine.

all i really want is about 30 more lbs of torque on the brz, 200 ponies is way more than enough for me.

Nice video! I'll be happy with 250-275 reliable RWHP myself.

You don't know, everyday I drive my car I fight myself to not buy a turbo and such

It is really hard...

Supra dude has some serious insecurity issues...therapy would have been much cheaper and more effective...

So many people will experience this exact scenario when NA is not enough and they boost their FT86. Comfort, economy, tractability and reliability will be sacrificed for "more". Push it too far and "BOOM" will be the exclamation point.

Biggest reason why i want to keep my car mostly stock for a long time. Thank you for this video!

Oh man...I remember wanting a Supra so badly after watching F&F in high school. I never ended up with one (had the Civic EX for awhile though). Now I think I'm glad I never had one, because I probably would have been doing the same things to mine.

I love the feel of my BRZ, and considering it's my DD, I doubt I'll do anything too crazy. *bookmarks the post to come back and remind himself of this statement in a year*

Thanks for the video!

Cliffs...

There is always someone faster

....it is usually a GTR with $$$ under the hood :D

My buddy is in the same boat with his Supra. Its at 1000whp with C16 right now, and every time he takes it to the drag, there is something that needs to "improve". Probably sits at the shop 6 months out of the year.

I think pursuing more power is a natural progression of car modding, and everyone should experience this route, then "mature" with car modding later on. Its like your dad saying "Don't bang hot girls because they are no good. I've been that path, and you shouldn't bang hot girls". Trust me, there are some fun aspects in this "mistake".

See below. Once the "slippery slope", as the narrator mentioned, starts, it's all over. I've been there. You will always be happy with just a little more....then it's a lot more and you still aren't happy

A 360 horse power car will be more than enough for me, then my buddy got a pulley and a tune. I did the same a couple months later. Next was the port, then suspension, then I was on my way to coilovers. This is a much shorter list than what I actually had, but there is always something better that will make you go, WOW! I need that!!! :happy0180: I left the cobra with a touch over 500 horse. My buddy has continued. He's put a new motor in and is now on E85 with a 2.2 KB twinscrew. He's at 667 rwhp if I remember correctly. My FRS will probably remain 100% stock other than the springs I just put in and maintenance. Might do wheels, but probably wont' have the car that long.

lol, reason why I posted this. Now I can always come back and look. I really want FI for this car, but I know where that will lead, so it's not happening. I love the reliability of this car too much to mess with it.

lol, great analogy. I had a great time while modding the cobra. I also spent a LOT of money! I don't miss that.

That car is a beast!

This guy seems to have more $$ than common sense. Should have stuck with the Prelude...
