SilverSkyline210's Full Blown Turbo Kit Install

Hey guys, heres another Full Blown Motorsports Stage 1 Base Kit install :) just thought I'd share my personal experience with it. So I ordered the kit the 1st of April, I got the kit early May, and I personally installed it myself at my job mid May. Took me about 3 days or so to get it together and running, it was my first time ever installing a turbo kit and i gotta say there was a lot involved lol, but it was lots of fun and a very good experience. I only just decided to make a post now since i worked out some bugs and finally got it on a dyno. And I wanna thank Brady @PureAutomotive for ordering my kit, and answering all my questions along the way, he's very knowledgeable with our cars and the Full Blown Kits, so if you're in the area and you want a kit for your car, give him a call ;). I also wanna thank @FreedEngineering for letting us use their dyno, and for putting my car on their facebook page :D Alright, here are some pictures

Running a Glow Shift boost gauge, affordable, simple, but works

Boost gauge installed, works really well there, almost like it was meant to be or something

Running a 42 Draft Designs Stealth Catch Can, very nice looking (3/4" inlet and outlet is not made for our cars, definitely a bit big, had to use some hose reducers)

*sigh* theres the intercooler pipe that is okay for the FRS but doesnt fit the BRZ because of HIDs #BRZproblems

90% done, notice the Fast Turbo Vacuum Manifold

Done for the night, nothing left I could do

Got bored waiting for correct intercooler coupler and pipe so I installed my Valenti reverse light

Finally got everything installed, correct piping behind headlight that is BRZ specific, got my headlight reinstalled, installed Forge Boost Controller I bought from @TyperRspec789 (far right, infront of the strut tower)

Photo Billy Freed took of my car, looks good ;)

Overlay of my dyno pull over @v1ru5's bone stock BRZ dyno pull just right before mine

Car feels QUICK, it feels really good, quicker than all the STi's I drive at work :D but I still have the stock overpipe+frontpipe+midpipe into my Crawford Gymkhana axleback, and I've also got 19x9.5 with 255 tires on the back that weight about 50lbs each, so numbers will be better once I get a full exhaust and lighter wheels :)

Nicely done...

What a perfect number to be at 300whp!!

I still.wonder if that carbon manifold cover is holding heat. Pretty sure it does

It was fun to watch this get dyno'd

Car looks great, engine bay looks super clean with the turbo and engine cover. Nice numbers too.

Nice!

i can assure you a 290 would be easily obtained with no cat + a over, front and mid pipe :)
im willing to bet too !

never the less, amazing car and build. Stay safe

What did you change to make it fit? I just had my FBM kit installed a few days ago on my BRZ and the fitment was not awesome either. Awesome work installing it yourself!

take a closer look at max power upper left, 290whp was hit ;) actually it hit 294whp like 2 runs, I hope to break 300whp with ultimate racing's 2.75" overpipe+frontpipe and a 3" all the way back

well, first they sent me the long silicone coupler, but didnt send the hard pipe that was suppose to go between that and the intercooler, so I sawed the FRS pipe lower half to make it fit the silicone coupler, and even then i noticed the silicone coupler was sorta squished behind the headlight, and i noticed the car drove kind of funny, like had random hesitations down low, so i cut up the new coupler, and cut up what was left of the old pipe, so that where it was tightest between the headlight and chassis would be a pipe that couldnt get pinched, and made it work better, now it drives smoother. and I even drew a picture for you on paint since i forgot to take a photo of that lol

Ahh crap I have some very odd hesitations with my kit - which feel like they mostly go away once the car is warmed up. I wonder if the hoses are pinching the same way. I helped re-install the headlights and it certainly felt like we had to squeeze some part of the intercooler piping. Thanks for the artistic drawing :confused0068:

That is exactly what i felt, random jerky hesitations, and definitely felt like it got better once it was warmed up. and actually i noticed when my coworker blipped the throttle with just the silicone coupler in place, the whole hose would collapse from the vacuum lol, i hope my drawing made sense, cause personally i think full blown should redo that section with 2 pipes and 3 couplers like how i have it now. and one more thing, i dont advise you going and cutting up your piping or silicone :P, i just did it cause i was so fed up with waiting for stuff i had to take matters into my own hands

I wonder if the wonky piping on that side is causing funny airflow issues with the mass airflow sensor. We were chasing MAF issues on the dyno with our car and I kept thinking about the passenger side fender pipe.

Once full speed density is available from Ecutek we will be in much better shape tuning wise.
