FR-S gear noise
So I decided to do a poll on this.
I have posted it earlier at http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...135#post811135 I have talked to several techs at the dealer, but with no luck, they told me they would submit a ticket to toyota, and that was the end of it. :( symptom: It sounds like something was engaged It only happens when u reach 23-24 MPH (speed triggered, not temp or anything else) Once it happens, you can not reproduce it until you have your engine shut off and stay off for at least 20 minutes. It only makes this noise once, then it's gone regardless your speed It makes the noise regardless which gear you are in, even when it's in N. I did not have this noise before 1000 miles, and could not produce the noise on any of the new cars on the dealers lot. I drive a MT, not sure if it's the same on AT. Watch the videos below and listen to it when speed reaches 24mph. sorry for the bad video quality, but it should capture the noise came from the car. I had my gear in neutral in all the videos, so it could capture the sound better (otherwise all ya hear is my engine roaring :party0030: ) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F7Kd3lv8ss"]FR-S gear noise -1 - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwUEUviPvQs"]FR-S gear noise -2 - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGVPnQAu__U"]FR-S gear noise -3 - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p85BMj4HTn4"]FR-S gear noise -4 - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUTk2yMVjw4"]FR-S gear noise -5 - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxdJWspBnmA"]FR-S gear noise -6 - YouTube[/ame] |
i'm not sure if i have the same problem, but sometimes when i shift to 2nd gear it does make noise and kinda stuck between the two gears, i have to push it a little harder to get it into 2nd gear, just sometimes though, sometimes it goes smoothly.
Not sure if it because of the way i drive or the car's problem. |
In the other thread you created, I thought it's the ABS self test noise. But yours is kind of loud. From your description, I doubt it's the transmission/gear noise since it happens even when in neutral. I noticed, in all of your videos, the RPM stays at 1000. Were you in neutral in all those videos?

like I said, it happens regardless which gear I am in. but I put in neutral just for the video, so ppl can hear that |
