CIAS: Does it look better in the flesh?

If you have seen either one at the show, what was your reaction on seeing it live (after spending so much time drooling over the photos :D)? Better? Worse? Just different?

I was very impressed, looked awesome.

Both the Blue BRZ and the Red FR-S looked amazing.

I've always had a soft spot for the World Rally Blue, Sucks we can't get it on the FR-S(Dont want the BRZ).

The photos don't due is justice, When i looked at the car in photos I always felt the front was lacking in style a bit(specially the hood) but seeing it in person, there are alot of curves you dont notice in photos that give it an aggressive look.

Love It.

I liked it better in person. We have all seen tons of photos by now but seeing it live gives you a better sense of the size of the vehicle.

If they weren't both on elevated platforms, I think the overall height would have been even more noticeable as well.

i was extremely disappointed that i could not sit in one

all of the scions there had shitty interiors, and for the subaru the rep told me that the STi was similar in interior quality.

however the STi's interior quality is about the same as my old VW that we've had for over 12 years. :/

I did get a chance to sit in the Genesis Coupe, Miata, and Mini.. all had wonderful interior.

Personally I had no issues about interior quality(I sat in the FR-S), everything felt great.

I thought the FR-S' interior was leaps and bounds ahead of any of the other Scion interiors. Not over-wrought, busy or complicated, and all the finishes on all the surfaces I saw looked high-quality.

compared to what?

i'm finding that the definition of a quality interior has become diluted over the years.

Listen, its a Scion, in my opinion its got great interior for what it is(Entry level sports car), but If your expecting a lexus then no.

i'm not expecting a lexus

i'm coming from a 12 year old entry level VW and a 12 year old Subaru, both of which have better interior than the majority of 20-25K cars that i've sat in at the autoshow.

hence my comment, that the "standard" for interior quality seemed to have went down

maybe at somepoint somebody thought "hey, if all those americuns are buying shits like Caravans and Sunfires, maybe we don't need to bother making nice interiors, lets just throw some recycled plastic at them, they won't care!"

You guys keep talking about "great interior" and "nice interior" but the entire argument is subjective. You're both never going to agree on if its nice or not because you are 2 different people and therefore, have 2 differnet points of view on what "nice/great" is. There's nothing wrong with that though if thats your opinion.

That being said, I'm just looking for something comfortable which I can drive everyday to and from work with a little bit of track time on weekends. So if I can sit in the car for 20-30 minutes with the door closed and still feel like I don't have to get out of the car to feel comfortable, that's perfect for me.

The seats and driving position will make the biggest difference to me. Not the options or material.

Good to hear, especially about the hood - I was concerned the front lid seam above the lights would ruin the look.

The BRZ looked great. It was brightly lit on the rotating platform and it had a door open so you could inside. Lots of Suby people around it answering questions and providing brochures. One Rep told me a fully loaded (auto Limited) would be $32K.

The FRS I barely noticed. It was on a raised platform, but you could only see one side of it, door closed and no one around at all.

It was great that both cars were there, but I dont understand the point of keeping them locked up and away from the crowds like they were some high end exotics. I think the Zonda was within easier reach. GM had all the Corvettes open, most of the BMW, Audi and MB were open.

They could at least had one at ground level so you could see inside easier and feel the size of the car.

Jehuty77 02-23-2012 04:57 PM

Have to agree with you on that one, its a nice car in its own right but you could sit in lexus IS-F and cars worth much more, why not the FR-S.
