CIAS Talk with SCION...No red stiching at all for Canada????
Hey Guys,
First time post, long time lurker...sure you guys know the drill. I was at CIAS in Toronto today...saw the BRZ and the FRS and I must say, pictures don't do either car justice. Was talking to a Scion rep, and he mentioned that there will be No red stitching ANYWHERE in the car, not even the steering wheel, door panels, shifter boot, etc. My understanding was there was to be no stitching on JUST the seats, but stitching everywhere else (like on the Canada mini FRS site). His reasoning behind this was so that scion could allow the customer to go aftermarket stitching to match the car paint of their choice. Can anyone comment on this? Is all the red stitching really gone???? |
looks like only 2 models coming out of Japan at first, Base and Base with Nav thats why I would wait till 2nd year model for more option.
|
That's retarded. Why would they tease us this whole time with red accents in this car, only to release the car with an all black interior!!!
|
It's already been confirmed.
I was at the vIP meet and greet saturday and i sat in the car and met the scion team from toyota Canada. They said no red accents at all, not in the seats, not in the wheel, not in shifter, no where. |
You have GOT to be kidding me? WHAT THE HELL SCION....how hard is it to offer two or three interior trims?
I cannot believe they would do that... |
Their taking the approach they have with all scions,
They offer you a standard platform to work with, from there you make the car your own. They want to offer the interior trim that will work with the most colors since they only have 1 trim. Red Accents in a blue car doesnt really make sense. |
I agree with you. But it's something that should be included in the price. Now I have to pay someone for labor to stitch the entire interior of my car...that could cause hundreds in labor...by the time I get this car to look the I want I, I could go pay for a BRZ...well not in Canada lol.

I agree the red stictching would have been a nice option. Oh well, we always get short handed here in Canada.
|
I was originally expecting the stitching to reflect the colour of car your chose, guess not :S
|
I'm gonna call my dealer tomorrow and see how much it costs aftermarket....maybe it's not so bad like $300-500 for the entire front end (who cares about the back). I'm sure dealers/TCI have thought of this...considering all the photos of the FRS have some kind of red stitching....

They should offer it as an option you could get if you custom order it from the factory.
Or else just make the stitching match the color of the car. How hard could that be? They only have 7 colors. Having it done by hand would be way too expensive and not nearly as even / well done as having the machine at the factory do it. |
It really sucks that scion is doing this. The Red stitching does not add much in cost. At least add it to the steering wheel and gear shift. Hopefully the USA models have the red stitching.
@HitTheGas, making the stitching match the color of the car would be awesome. Does anybody know if this is confirmed that there is not red stitching on the USA FR-S? |
