If it's your first track day in the car you should be OK but will definitely need new fluid and maybe pads at the end of the day. PIR is tough on brakes, essentially two long straightaways (chicane will be in use this time) with a bunch of right turns connecting them.

Mild race pads and high temp fluid going in in a couple days so brake fluid doesn't boil. ;)

Which pads and fluid are you going with? I'll be replacing mine afterward and would appreciate your input, thanks.

See my build thread. I'm not remembering off hand since I'm at work. Kevin "digitalassassin" is getting the same brand as me but only the 12 model which is a track only type pad. Mine is more for autocross/street/track as the max temp isn't as high but still a couple steps up from the normal road pad.

digital_assassin 08-02-2013 08:30 PM

Carbotech pads.

Josh picked up AX6 pads
I went for XP10 pads

Wow, you guys have some amazingly well built twins! Looking forward to seeing your machines next week.

Most likely I'll just burn through the stock pads but will change the fluid first. What do you use? I'm about to order Motul 600 tonight unless you'd suggest something else available locally.

I like [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002TQ0WM4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]ATE Super Blue[/ame]. That way when there's fluid on the ground, you know what it is right away.

Thanks, ordered tonight. Should make the flush easier and is a wash with Motul specs but can't beat the almost half price.

digital_assassin 08-03-2013 03:37 AM

Tonight I finished the Whiteline Subframe Bushings and installed the brake pads. Got one of the MTEC springs and had to bail on the second. Harbor Freight trip tomorrow am is in order to button thus up. Hell yeah! 1 week till track day!

stockysnail 08-03-2013 03:57 AM

Kevin and I are using Motul 600.

torqdork 08-03-2013 11:44 AM

I'll be alternating between ATE Super Blue and Motul 600. It'll help tell when flush is complete and maybe one will perform better and last longer. Either is a big step up from OEM and probably the weakest link for a stock car like mine on track.

Edit: Research showed ATE and Motul don't mix well so instead will be alternating between ATE Super Blue and ATE 200 that is the same stuff but amber color.

Do we have to bring our cars to ground school? I was planning on riding the motorcycle so I could use the HOV lane :p
