Worst Badge Engineered Vehicles
6 Attachment(s)
My worst is....
Pontiac G5/Chevy Cobalt Chevy Tahoe/ Cadillac Escalade/ Gmc Yukon Chrysler T&C/ Dodge Caravan Chevy Silverado/ Gmc Sierra And you're going to hate me for this but I also think..... Scion FRS/ Subaru BRZ |
All of those are built by the same company though, just altered for the different markets the sub-brands represent. The FRS/BRZ is a collaboration project, it is different.
|
So wait, what is this thread about again?

Seriously, stop with sarcasm jokes. |

I can swap the BRZ fascia with an FRS, and I'll have a BRZ! |

By "worst" you mean most flagrant and/or zero dollars spent differentiating the models?
I agree that Subaru/Toyota went super mega ultra cheap in attempting to differentiate the two models. Thankfully, the car appears to be an excellent drivers car, which hopefully is a consolation for the whole identical-everything-but-front-bumper embarassment. Nevertheless, I'd rather have a good drivers car badge engineered between two brands that couldn't afford to do the car on their own than no drivers car at all. It's the lesser of two evils, even though it's frustrating for ideology. |

When I quit my job in August, I should have about 10k and use it as down payment. If you don't have anything to say about badge engineered vehicles, please do not comment at.... Enjoy your day, Sir |

It is however your money! http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ck_comparison/ "No rational person would ever think the Rio is related to the Accent." |
Theres a bit of a difference here between colabed vehicles and badge engineering.
One of the worst badge engineering vehicles is the Mitsubishi Eclipse / Eagle Talon /Plymouth Laser. Because under the flag of DSM (mistu-chrysler), they tried to weasle their way into the american sports car segment to combat japanese competitors to sell more cars under several different flags. Basically, too many greedy hands trying to make money out of the venture. The best badge engineered vehicle IMO to date is the Holden Monaro / Vauxhuall Monaro / Pontiac GTO. A colab, vehicle is a slightly different venture than badge engineering. Because both developing parties put stake and funds into the development of a chassis which is counter-productive to badge engineering. |
...I don't even...

The Chevy Cavalier and Toyota whatever you call it was another one. This is a collaboration, not badge engineering! |
The worst j can think of was the French attempt of DSM-style marketing was the Renault 5 Turbo & the "Le Car". :barf:
|
How about when Dodge made the Neon, and then they put a front and rear Plymouth badge on it and called it the Plymouth Neon? There were literally no differences in the vehicles.

Trueno and Levin... Zing!
|
The most egregious example that I can think of is the Aston Martin Cygnet (Toyota IQ).
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/...e_1544666c.jpg The laziest example I can think of is the MB/Dodge/Freightliner Sprinter. Same headlights, same bumpers, same white paint, same freaking model name. |
Ok guys, I see how it is.
I'm just a troll..... And everyone is going to make fun of me for posting my opinion..... "In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself" Yep, I did all what was stated above.... I'm in High School, and have a higher maturity level than some of you guys on the forum. I wish you all the best of luck. |
