Tail light side markers
This I happened to notice when I last washed my car:
My tail lights look like this http://i50.tinypic.com/2vw5lqh.jpg and others loke like that: http://image.motortrend.com/f/372296...-taillight.jpg Now I suppose those red side panels are for localized versions and work as some kind of indicator light. I also noticed that my "white" lights have a kind of socket in that area or at least a mount preparation of some sort. Question: Can one upgrade one's tail lights so they work as side markers or something? Anyone already done something similar? Or is it stock in the US? |
These are stock on USDM cars (red ones).

US DOT lighting standards call out red retroreflectors on the rear and amber retroreflectors onthe front that are lit with the running lights.
I don't believe ECE lighting standards require them. Do you have the amber retroreflectors just forward of your front tires, where the bumper meets the fender? |

But I like them and thus want 'em ^^ And no, the only reflectors we got are the bulls-eyes in the rear tail lights, that's it. No lit side markers or whatever. Wouldn't want them mandatorily either but I probably would like the effect the lights have in the tail lights. Can anyone please post a picture of the lit reflectors in the dark? Am I right in assuming that THIS is where the sockets for the side marker bulbs go? http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...ps0a23eeff.jpg |
I'll trade you mine for yours :)

Right, just that i will probably never pass a checkup again ;)
I can live without the red reflectors but want the light. But if u r interested i could use the hinge mechanisms of the rear seats ^^ So am I right? Is the area marked in red the spot where the light goes? |
