Engine Light On (malfunction indicator lamp)

Hello,

Got an engine light on yesterday, after the car cooled down it went off and hasn't come back.

The manual says to bring it in to a dealership for inspection - list of items in pink section page 305 cites, electronic engine control system; electronic throttle control system, electronic automatic transmission control system.

I assume it's one of both of the first two items since this is a 6M.

Anything I need to be worried about here? I was burning rubber quite a bit beforehand (previous 20 minutes), and it is very hot and humid here now and I'm running stock.

I checked coolant levels, nominal, temperature level (normal at 1/3rd, the usual spot).

Any advice appreciated..

Would the blackbox or reporting system contain data on this? I can probably read it with a 3rd party unit? Should I change the air filter, etc?
