Go Fast Bits 3pc Lightweight Crank Pulley
I just got my GFB pulleys and installed. I really like this mod. Makes the car a little bit more lively. Revs are quicker, accleration is more responsive, and overall a great mod to have. I did install this myself. Taking off the water pump pulley is really easy. While the belt is still on, use a 10mm wrench or socket/ratchet combo and loosen the bolts. The belt itself will apply tension for you loose to the bolts off the water pump. Remove and place the new pulley on. Thread all the bolts on and reattach the belt. Use the belt's tension to tighten the water pump bolt.
As for the alternator and crank pulley, I used a chain wrench to hold each pulley stationary while using a breaker bar and socket to loosen it. The alternator nut is a 24mm while the crank is a 22mm. Remember to torque down the crank pulley to 95 ft. lbs. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps5b790773.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps7041c878.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps841c7e46.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...pse8306832.jpg |

When you say the car accelerates faster, do you mean like a hundredth of a second 0-60? I don't see lightweight pulleys doing much more than that.

@VietnamPhenom how long did it take you to install all 3? I put just a crank pulley in my old tC and that took me maybe half an hour(didn't know exactly how to do it) |
As what everyone said, they are a lightweight pulleys. They don't make a "huge" difference, but they do make a difference. Throttle repsonse is quicker, and the revs are slightly faster then stock. Somedays I don't realize that I'm already doing 50 in 3rd. (in a 40 mph zone)
As far as time, it took me around an hour to do all 3. If you have the proper tools, the install will be easy to do. The water pump pulley is the easiest to remove. The alternator will have to be kept stationary, or if you have an impact gun fast enough to take the nut off. The crank was fairly easy, put the car into 6th and use a breaker bar with a 22mm socket and just give it a yank. Make sure you torque down the crank pulley bolt, and alternator nut. The water pump bolts can be snug. |

^ What he said. It is easier to get up to speed with the pulleys. Overall it is a good mod. I haven't had any problems with thus far. I've put roughly around 2k miles on it. NO CEL or any sort of complications.

Perhaps I should have tried a chain wrench on the alternator. I ended up disassembling it to get the pulley off.
I'm happy with it, its a nice kit. I can't say I feel a difference as I installed it in part with a lot of other mods. |
Thanks guys! got a lot of good insight.
