Depends on noise restrictions in your state. Not having a resonator isn't illegal, per se, but the volume may go over the legal limit in your state.

It all varies from state to state for noise regulations. Here in VIC you cant go over 90db @ 3/4 RPM band https://epanote2.epa.vic.gov.au/EPA/...$FILE/1031.pdf

Prescribed noise levels for exhaust noise Exhaust noise from vehicles should not exceed the prescribed noise levels referred to in clause 4 of the Regulation. The levels depend on whether the vehicle is certified to Australian Design Rule (ADR) 83/00 (which came into force progressively from 2005), or to earlier ADRs. For vehicles certified prior to ADR 83/00, Schedule 1 of the Regulation specifies the prescribed noise levels. For cars built before January 1983, the maximum noise level is 96 decibels and for newer cars the level is 90 decibels. For vehicles with compliance plate dates after 1 September 2011, the prescribed noise level is the ADR 83/00 signature level plus 5 decibels. It's fine, yes it isn't dead quiet, depending on the revs it's very bearable and it's also dependent on your right foot :) You can actually drive this car quietly with a light foot, but if you bury it then you will hear it until the revs climb up above 4500 or there abouts where it then tapers off to a light racing growl. Welcome to listen to if in Melb. :) |

Update.
Soo.. the wife freaked out when she 'heard' the unresonated one. So I ended up ordering the resonated version. BUT we reached a compromise, and I got the Perrin Front pipe too  |
