Exhaust options for 13' FR-S?
I'm really into the throaty sound of the GReddy Evo 3 exhaust and I still want to keep my options open. Which exhaust do you guys have and how much do you like the idol tone, high rev sound, in car sound, etc. But since I dont know a lot about cars I want to get the opinion of other FR-S/GT-86/BRZ owners. I'm 18. It was my graduation present and I want to start doing work on my car. I like the set up of the GReddy Evo3 exhaust with GReddy momentum intake and Borla Headers. (Eventually get a lightweight crank pulley, and later LATER in life get a supercharger still don't know which one though)

Didn't someone unbolt his muffler and melt his bumper off?

I had just a Berk dual-tip muffler delete. Was pretty loud inside the car, especially while driving around town normally (like in the 1800-2200 RPM range). I then had an 18" Vibrant resonator welded in the pipe between the two tips. That quieted the exhaust down quite a bit, especially in that RPM range I mentioned earlier. The only issue with it now is that the drone sort of moved up to the 3500RPM range, which is where it sits doing 80mph on the freeway. The drone is noticeably quieter than it was without the resonator, but it's still there. It does seem to go away slightly after spending some time there - like it seems louder when just getting up to speed than it does a half hour later (not sure if the noise level is actually changing or if I just get used to it after a while).
Anyway, it's a good setup if you're on a budget and can deal with a bit of extra noise in the car. If you're looking for complete quiet inside the car, I'd just change the tips on the stock muffler or go with one of the more expensive cat-backs. |
