GT86 (FR-S) is a beast! (in GT5 anyway)
I have tuned a stock GT86 - 200HP, best guess stock weight of 2762LBs. It comes in at 408PP and runs it on Sport medium tires. I matched it against my 408pp MR2 Spyder with what is basically a 2ZZ drive train (174 HP and the stock 2225 Lbs) and the GT 86 will match it on Trial Mountain every run and is much easier to drive fast. (I am going from memory on those exact HP and weight numbers but they are real close.) Both these cars are as close to real street versions specs as I can make them.
I then tuned a GT86 for 400PP running Racing soft and a 450PP also on racing soft. My son, who is much faster in game than I am, raced both and out of 11 races on various tracks was only beaten once when someone dive bombed him in the first corner of Laguna Seca and knocked him off the track and into last place. He finished second out of 15 cars. The car dominates both classes on almost any track with relatively minor adjustments. And it looks great while doing so (no BFW). The 450pp ran a fast lap of 1:29:04 on Trial Mountain in its first practice session of 5 laps. I managed a 1:34:73 with it which shows how easy it is to drive because I have only played the game for about a week and only a couple days with a G27 wheel and ****pit set-up. It is a good way to keep yourself entertained until you can get behind the wheel of the real thing. |
^Scroll down the page and there's a thread on stock gt86 competition in gt5

I know that. None of these cars would fit in that competition. But they will steamroll many of the other cars that have dominated the described classes in the game.

are there any cheat codes for this game?
i don't care about trophies, i just want to try & tune all the cars. |
I've been having fun running the stock GT86 against various other cars in a similar class and, and ones that have been often compaired on this forum. Mustang GT, S2000, Civic SI. Although I can turn out a better lap time in say an S2000 it's hard work and takes a lot of practice. It's amazing (in the game) how easy it is to turn consistantly good lap times in the GT86.
I can only hope the the real thing handles as nicely. |

Just do endurance race or online race & get some credits |
Build a B spec driver and let him do all the grinding.

I usually find myself having about 4million credits, then blowing just about all of it then i race in those for a little while and i get it back. It helps especially if you have the highest login bonus |

I bought this game the day it came out and played it for about 10 mins before today. Even have the official logitech steering wheel. I just liked the forza games more. But when i read this i had to play it again. I had gotten a new PS3 slim since then (old one was too loud for a blu-ray player), so i had to re-download all the updates & re-install the game. Asked me what login message I wanted (this game is WAY different than when it launched), so i said GT-86. then it proceeded to give me a bunch of free crap & a free red GT-86! i don't know if that was some code, or if i just got lucky, or if that's normal. But i've been driving it in the Sunday Cup, lots of fun! The graphics on this game have gotten better too since it was launched. I have no idea how they pulled that off. Anyway, what are these seasonal events you're talking about? Is it something in the game, or something that's actually on a certain day of the year you have to play or something? I made a driver to do B-Spec while i work, but he sucks. Do they get better as they level up? I remember having to get licenses to race different cars, did they ditch that in favor of leveling up now? I hope so, those A licenses were a PITA. Sorry for all the questions, but i appreciate everyone's help. :happy0180::thanks: |
