Anyone have any idea then where the sensor is located? I'm hoping its not on the dash...in which replacing the sensor would mean ripping out the dash. The only issue I'm having is the ambient air temp sensor. The ambient air temp reading on Torque is within a few degrees of the local weather I check online. The gauge cluster just doesn't seem to be getting any of that info from the ECU though.

Sounds like you have a LAN/CAN problem. If the sensor is reporting to the ECM correctly, it's not a faulty sensor.

Multiple posts in this thread state where the sensor is... it's by the rad and horn, nowhere near the dash.

The gage in my old 2007 Corolla was always spot on. (Used a thermometer when car was sitting in the shade and got the same readings.)

The temp gage accuracy that some of you are getting is mostly annoying unless you are relying on it for cold wet weather driving. For local driving you probably already know what the relative outside temperature is but when driving in mountainous areas temperatures can quickly change as you gain altitude. It is a very handy tool to have to know when near freezing road conditions are present.

For the longest time I did not know why my previous car would chime after a few minutes of driving in winter.... turns out it does that to alert you that its cold enough for ice to form on the roads
