Help: keyless access trunk usage
Due to the small nature of the brz, I have to use my trunk a lot. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out the correct sequencing to be able to still use the keyless access consistently. I've tried opening the doors first, opening the trunk first, and it seems like at some point when I try to lock the door with the keyless access, it beeps long and forces me to use the buttons on the remote. I know it has something to do with the valet feature, but the manual has been of no help and I'm starting to get frustrated. Half the time I need it, my hands are full and I have to dig the remote out of my pocket to lock the doors or open the trunk. Thanks in advance.

I've never had a problem with the trunk. There is a button under the lip that will open the trunk as long as the key is in my pocket. Long press on the button on the remote will do it too?!?

Lets get the obvious out of the way...
Is your second key fob stored in the car? Have you attempted to push the Valet button in the truck? If so, did that do anything? |
Odd, I just walk up to mine with the key on me and hit the trunk button and it opens. v0v

OP - are you trying to lock the doors with the trunk open? With the key on you, that trunk button on the car should work just fine. A long beep usually means the car is trying to tell you something's wrong. Then again, if you open your door before you turn the car off, the car will beep at you when you hit the start/stop button. (to which I either close then reopen the door, or just ignore) FWIW - I was washing the car the other day with the keys in my pocket. Washing the door handle area caused a sequence of locking and unlocking repeatedly. |
Thanks for all the replies. I'd thought of everything except one. Is the keyfob in the car? While I didn't think it was, I did dig through my bag and find the extra one in the pocket. It's a good thing I haven't needed it because I've been thinking this has been inside the house this whole time. I haven't tried to verify yet, but since my bag goes with me at least 50% of the time I use the trunk, I'm sure this was the problem. Which explains why sometimes it worked fine and other times it didn't. Should've known the solution was this obvious. Thanks again guys.

That IS the answer to your problem. One cannot lock it normally if a second key is in the car. It beeps to warn you. When we're out in the BRZ, my wife will often leave her purse stored in the trunk with her BRZ key. No can do. She needs to remove the key from her purse and take it into the grocery store with us when we're shopping. It's programmed to work this way; there's nothing wrong with your car. |
solved!

Another reason why I am glad I didn't get the Limited. I stayed true spartan.

The clit is sometimes difficult to locate :)

When the second key fob is in the car you can still use the buttons to lock and unlock the car.
