Debadging - How difficult will it be?
I've never debadged a car (at least not on purpose). I really don't like the front badge on the FRS. How difficult is it to remove, and will there be paint issues? (Of course, realizing no one has seen the car up close enough to know for sure)
Also, I really wish instead of the one on the back they had put the "SCION" letters from the prototype, but I can live with that one. I'm also thinking of replacing the fender "86" badge with the panels from the Subaru, maybe reattaching the 86 on top of it. |
i know that i WILL be debadging my fender vents. im sure that all the badges have the little pins on the back of them so when you take them off there will be holes in the part that they came off. So those will have to be filled and the part repainted. This is how it was with the garnish on my tC, the front bumper is obviously a bigger issue... i plan to debadge it completely though..... in time....

Do you have another badge to put on (ie a toyota one)?
i know some guys who always would swap his regular honda badges for the red type-R's and it seemed pretty simple. Just tooth floss would take the old badges right off. ofc though you need something to put back on it :p |
not really hard to do
there will be 2 holes on your hood after tho that u can fill but then have to paint. I'm gonna debadge the back and put a toyota badge up front |
Any one know which size toyota badge is being used for the front and back?

I am sure there will be a big market (eBay) for GT86 badges from JDM/

"So embarrassed by Scion badge. Must debadge or put on Toyota badge. So embarrassing with Scion."

I'm doing this as well.

I debadged my Miata, just left the tiny little holes unfilled. They are basically invisible, primed and painted, and the water just drains out the other side of the panel, so it hasn't been a problem, for 8 years now...
I'll be de-badging, and getting rid of any bling and tupperware that is conveniently removed. Cheers, Mitch |
^ tupperware?

Tupperware: ornamental plastic tacked on to an otherwise fine automobile, in an attempt to increase perceived value. See also "Body Kit", "Garnish", "Trim".

As other's have mentioned, there will likely be pins or holes left behind from the larger badges (i.e. Scion logo, 86 fender badges). Be glad you're not buying the BRZ; the trunk logo Subaru has been using for the last half decade is bolted in from inside the trunk and leaves two nasty holes you need to fill/prime/paint. |

Easy, blow dryer and dental floss is all you should need for the stick on stuff.
