Anybody know where the Scion FR-S is built?
I'm curious...
My South African Toyota GT86 has "SUBARU" stamped into every body panel, and I understand that it's built in Subaru's Japan factory. Where is the Scion FR-S built? Does it also have "SUBARU" stamped into all it's body panels? And where are American BRZ's built? |
I did an AutoCheck on my car and mine stated it was shipped from Japan on May, 7, 2012. So, Japan I would assume.
And yes, there is more Subaru on my car than Toyota/Scion. |
At the top of drift mountain, gt86 brz and fr-s.
I'm serious. |
They are all build on the exact same LINE by Fuji in Japan.

Yes, I believe they are all built in Japan and shipped to wherever they need to go. Dealer optioned parts are installed by local installers at (or near) the port locations. That is what the dealer told me, at least.

Both the FRs and BRZ are built in the same factory in Japan. Check out the video here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19319

Gunma, Japan
|
All of the models (BRZ, FR-S, 86/GT86) are built in Subaru's plant in Gunma, Japan. There are a few pictures of the 86 and BRZ being built side by side.

Yeah, there are Subaru stamps all over the FR-S too.

Here's the window sticker off an FR-S. Note the point of assembly.

I wonder what that 5% parts content is? My tC was 100% Japan.

There's this video also.... :D

like everyone said, all the cars are built in Gunma, Japan and the reason why they all have Subaru stamps is because the car's chassis and engine were pretty much all subaru while the design and styling cue was done by Toyota
