Night Workers?

Got any frs/brz night shift workers on here? How you like it? I currently work for Va. as a wastewater operator and work 12 hour shifts 6pm to 6am then rotate every two weeks. Still don't know how to feel about the night shift. Its a love/hate situation for me. Tell your opinions/work hours.

Work in IT. Have been doing 11PM to 8AM for around 5 years now. There are ups and downs. The worst part is that nothing is ever open at 3AM on a Sunday morning when you are awake and active.

Been doing overnights at McDonald's for the past 2.5 years (12am - 7am and 9pm - 5am shifts) I hate it. Your body never gets used to it and I can't sleep for shit during the day. On the upside I have zero issues sleeping at night.

Random question: Does the Australian menu have anything different than USA? I haven't eaten at Maccas ("Micky-D's" for 'Muricans) since I was a kid, just curious.

Probably as there are usually regional differences in menu items across the world.

When I was a kid, my local Maccas had little personal pizzas. They were delicious.

The best part is no traffic going to work and the rush hour in the morning I don't have to be stressed because I'm going home.

As far as sleep is concerned, I think being consistent is the most important factor. I know a lot of people at my job do it the wrong way (IMO) in that they feel working nights means they are getting free time. Meaning they go home after work and don't sleep much and take care of their kids and stuff.

If you go home and have a dark room that won't get interrupted and can get a normal amount of sleep you shouldn't have any problems. But then I am single young guy so it is pretty easy for me to do and say that.

Good luck.

I work 11:30 to 7:30 most my schedule and it's alright except for the fact I don't have much I can do so the shift gets drawn out. .I do like that there is no traffic and temperatures are always on the cool side (not that temps matters much now, as I work in a climate controlled complex;finally) but it's not natural and like stated above.. you never fully get use to it. But I'll work it, it'll be paying for my fr-s so no complaints.

McDonald's has pretty substantial localization. There is some great sounding McFood from X that isn't available in Y.

/wave from a fellow wastewater operator. I do great on swing but grave sux. It's not hard for me to stay awake. It is just hard to sleep during the day. I am a lite sleeper. Just a distant dog bark wakes me up. :(

No. Beltway. Traffic.

That was why I started working night shifts, granted there isn't a graveyard shift for my position so I'm not working as late as you fellows.
