Performance parts that are future-FI-proof?
 

I plan on getting a FI kit in a few months (probably when that Innovate supercharger shows up), but right now I want to add more power. I don't want to buy parts that I'm gonna be reselling later because it's not compatible with the FI kit. So which parts should I get?

Just exhaust components.

Nameless 3inch exhaust and header will go well with the S/C

I'm guessing this BRZ exhaust diagram is the same as the FRS.

The front-pipe connects to the mid-pipe, correct?

Where does a cat-back exhaust system connect to?

Not being exclusive to the Innovate SC, what else is "safe" to replace for a future-FI (turbo or super) FRS?

That Perrin crank pulley, lightweight wheels and tires if you have the $$

A catback is midpipe+axleback

So its headers+overpipe+frontpipe+catback

You'll want 245 section width at least...which should dictate your rim width.

well, i wouldn't recommend wheels (low bang for the buck performance wise). the tires are what matter. i'd go for tires and a full exhaust vs. wheels and tires for the same $$$.

Are most FI kits compatible with aftermarket headers?

Most turbos come with their own exhaust manifold so a header would not be compatible.

If you are going turbo, all exhaust mods will work minus the headers and possibly over pipe/front pipe dependant upon your kit. Some kits don't reuse the factory intake track from the air box, but AVO does so you can call a Perrin CAI intake proof. All engine mods will carry over like pulleys, injectors, cams... Blah the big thing to remember is turbos will affect your intake and exhaust track.

If you are going super, all exhaust mods including headers are future proof, the intake track is usually a no-go if you are going this route. All engine mods carry over as well like the turbo.

I would recommend upgrading tires before wheels, brakes before susoension, and your cooling even if just radiator before pushing the boost up on either FI possibility.

The best way to know what works, is to remain brand loyal. Sounds weird, but if you buy parts from your GI manufacturer they usually work together.

I'd stick with a catback and tune until you know where you are going with the car. Most FI systems will change the exhaust and intake systems up to the cat-back. Most FI systems also seem to use ecutek so it's probably safe to get a license now and run a NA tune while you wait.

A ecutek licence and cable are going to be used by all kits so thats also a good buy.

Headers + Over pipe + catted Front pipe, 3" preferably Nameless
Clutch + Lightened Flywheel
Lightened CS Pulley
CF Driveshaft
ECUTek
+various mounts/bushings

Other stuff on the list that may wait for the blower:
Robispec Radiator/Oil Cooler
Catch Can
Battery relocated to Passenger side trunk.
Likely a bump up to 255 wide tires in the rear.
