Where to autocross near Chicago!?!!

http://scca-chicago.com/calendar/ - Chicago Region

http://www.sbrscca.org/2013Calendar.html - South Bend Region

http://www.inr-scca.org/SOLO2.htm - North-West Indiana

http://www.indyscca.org/SoloFiles/2013SoloSchedule.html - Indy Region

EDIT: http://www.scca-milwaukee.org/solo/2013/13sched.html - I believe I remember hearing from Bill Cook that Milwaukee uses a site right down by the Illinois border... could be wrong though.

Ut's a bit of a drive, but there are events in Champaign. http://ccsportscarclub.org/

I just moved here, so I don't know how the region runs events; caveat emptor. I'll report back once I dig my autocross tote out of the zillion boxes in our garage.

I believe from the few I've gone to watch this summer that Milwaukee mostly uses the Miller Park (County Stadium!) parking lot.

Tri state this sunday at the sears center in hofman estates.

If you're just wanting to get your feet wet, I'm a huge fan of the windy city miata club events, much more so than any of the others mentioned.

Drove with this club years back.
not sure how it is now, but it was very tight layout.

this is worth a bump. a friend and i are looking for some cone racing within about an hour of the illinois/indiana border near chicago. both of us just want to get into it casually. point's, trophies, or standings don't matter, the goal is tight and technical stuff to better learn and understand car control in a safer environment than parking lots and streets.

any new suggestions over the one's that aren't already listed here?

Probably. I run Chicago and Milwaukee SCCA events as well as TSSCC and have two weekends off from the first event mid April and July. You can run every weekend if you really want. The bigger clubs are typically better, bigger layouts, though maybe fewer runs. Often more people to help you along too. I've tried a couple smaller clubs (or car specific) and they're not bad, but ... Meh.
