Suaveflooder's Whiteout FRS Journal
Well, I've been holding out on this for awhile, thinking that I don't plan on doing anything to my car, so why bother, but looking over some of my previous car's journals....most of it wasn't expected.
Not sure how often this will be updated, but we shall see. I've always been one to rescue cars that were previously abused and fix them and make them into something unique. It's going to be weird starting with a "perfect" car. My list of cars: '84 Mustang LX 5.0 '03 Mustang Cobra 84 Mustang GT 5.0 '04 M3 '03 Mustang Cobra (10th anniversary) '13 FRS My last car when I sold her....03 Mustang Cobra 10th anniversary. 500 horsepower beast! Loved this car! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...r/d601ca80.jpg Here we go! Cobra is sold and the FRS is spotted. I knew I had to have whiteout and I knew I had to have a 6 speed. My goal with all my cars is making them noticeable to people. Every car I've sold, I've had people say, "I saw your old car." Just little characteristics that set it apart and make it mine. Hopefully, I can do that with this one. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...psd81ad8da.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps450142fe.jpg Most recent pics http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...psea0b14ae.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps2ee3b03e.jpg Current Mods: Visual: --Blacked out headlights--Red out tail lights--Diode Dynamic Fog light kit--FT Shark fin--Stillen wing--Tint (20% rear 35% front)--Perrin exhaust tips-- Performance: --K&N drop in filter--Perrin intake tube--Perrin Crank Pulley-- Drivetrain: --Kartboy short throw shifter-- Suspension: --Eibach Pro springs--Whiteline camber bolts--TSW Nurburgring 18X8 +45-- Misc: --JL 10" subwoofer and amp--5000k HID headlights and fog lights--LED license plate bulbs--Hood struts--Flossy shift knob-- |

Small update. Decided to lower the car. I went with the eibach pro spring kit! Love it! Car rides comfortably, but is more planted than stock. Also, the body roll is pretty much gone. Loving it so far. I also got to install some whiteline camber bolts. I figure if they are good enough for @whataboutbob, I would be fine running them :D
Before at stock height http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps78b17305.jpg And now. Might be time for some more pictures that aren't taken with the cell phone During the mess http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps7db9a9e7.jpg And dropped http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...psa62d464b.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...psf57deaf5.jpg :burnrubber::burnrubber::burnrubber: |

Today, I met up with Chad from Flossy. I wasn't sure I even wanted to swap the shift knob out on the car, but I hated how the stock felt in my hand. Flossy had everything I was looking for as far as weight, feel, and looks.
LOVE the knob. I wasn't expecting as much of a difference in shifting feel as i got, but it was a present surprise Attachment 44439 Attachment 44440 |
I forgot to post these earlier. These are recent pics from my other thread.

Going from V8 mustangs to a smaller I4 car seems like quite a switch. Care to share any thoughts on the real noticable difference that made you go for the FRS?

The three cars I was looking at to replace the cobra were the FRS/BRZ, 370Z and the S2000. When all was said and done, the FRS fit my needs better than the other two. It was a hard top, looked killer, handled like it was on rails, got the best gas mileage of the three, and really didn't have the potential to make crazy power, so there would be no temptation to mod quickly. Plus is was a new platform, so aftermarket wasn't saturated yet. I would eventually like to get some wheels and a turbo, but those are so far off, I haven't really even researched my options (although, I do know what they are :bonk:). I guess that kind of answered the question. Short answer is, I would have kept the cobra is $$ wasn't an issue and I had mounds of it laying around my house, but being as I have a wife and we want a family and a house in the near future, the cobra had to go. I have spent a total of $458 on mods for the car in the last 5 months of ownership. I would spend that on one purchase for the cobra, and I tended to make a couple purchases a month :eyebulge: Quote:

Well, I was enjoying a couple tasty beverages last night and I decided it would be the perfect time to do something stupid like pull my lights apart :bonk::bonk:
Been wanting to do this for awhile, so I've had the supplies. Total cost was $11 and about 5 hours of time. Oddly, the most time consuming part is waiting for the lenses in the oven (total of an hour) and RTVing all the seams for insurance (probably took me about an hour and a half to get it done right for both lights). If I were to do it again, I would have used black RTV. You can see the clear and I feel the black would blend in better. On to the pics http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps8db2dc3c.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...pse0c71c17.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps1440582c.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps70c0a3f2.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps920424a9.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...ps9777a790.jpg |

Nice work. What paint did you use to make the tail lights come out glossy across the glass? I would've expected it to become matte and textured.
