Thoughts on my tint choice? Not done yet.

I'll be paying 275 for solargar up 75% on the sides, which is essentially invisible but cuts heat better than other light films, and the suntek cxp 55% in the rear. A subtle tint, but the heat ought to be notably less. I don't want cop trouble and do lots of night driving. I'm weird.

The price is about normal for SF Bay Area. The quality of the shop is the tops. They did our xA years ago. Still looks good.

I think it sounds very sensible. The factory glass has some tint to it already, so this will add the heat rejection that it appears you are more concerned with. Go with what works for you.

^^^ This

I was thinking you were going to be posting about how you wanted to be different with metallic tint, which would bring you lots of cop trouble.

Do you happen to know the % heat rejection of the solargar film? This is the first I heard of this brand.. Too bad I'm already tinted (goal was also mainly heat rejection) with the suntek cxp all around. I think the suntek claims around 50% heat rejection depending on the tint percentage. But if the solargar is better, I'll get it for my next car haha.

Anyway, tinting for heat rejection makes sense to me. I'm from around SF too and I paid $300 for the suntek cxp all around but I also got an extra tint strip at the top of my front windshield so 275 sounds about right.

What's the name of the shop you are going to btw?

Solargard. Sorry, forgot the d. The CXP is a better product overall, rejects a little more heat, but the Solargard UP 75 is cheaper. The side windows don't take most of the heat, so they don't matter so much for heat rejection. I'm sure I could get a cheaper price somewhere else, but they did an excellent job on our other car and they've been around long enough that I expect they'll be there if something goes wrong in a few years. I also saw their datebook. Booked solid for 2 weeks. Oh, the Solargard also has a slightly different color cast than the CXP.

Had it done. Looks good. The color is nice out of the side windows. Good job overall. One little tweak needed on one of the rear side windows. He noticed it, but I had to rush to get my son from school.
