Moto-East BRZ/FR-S Tuning Update!

We are releasing an update for existing customers starting next week, this will be standard on our future tunes as well. It is as follows:
  • Utilizes the newest ROM revision from Subaru. This is the one that has the newer timing strategy up top to preserve the direct injection seals! (some have already gotten this on the latest revision)
  • RaceROM 5!!!
  • Updated fuel maps for more stable fueling, but still keeping OEM corrections.
  • Updated timing maps to minimize how much learning the ECU has to do.
  • Revised Ethanol fueling including Flex Fuel support! You will have to wire up your own kit, but we will map for it.
  • ECU based boost control. Currently this is supported up to 2.5 bar.
  • Header specific tune--we spent hours on the dyno and sure enough we were able to find areas that a free flowing header opens up. This means instead of just decreasing the dip, it is ELIMINATED as long as your header is decent. While we worked with a JDL unit, the others are likely to see a similar benefit from tuning. Stay tuned on upcoming dynos with pump gas.
  • Transition Management -- this is for those who like to be at the limit of adhesion. Unlike the standard traction control that is useless for performance driving, this allows for a more mild torque reduction when slip is detected. Nothing sudden or dramatic here that will intrude, but for those with a good bit of mods, driving in the wet, or with forced induction; it allows for a gentler transition from slip to grip. This is NOT a substitute for the factory system and not a safety feature. Think of it as a buffer as you start a drift. You can still let it slide and slip as much as you want, but when you hit that transition point it will be less sudden.
  • Gear independent soft rev limit. Before the soft rev limit was at only one RPM. Now we can set it from various gears as well.
  • Forced Induction: Yup, we can do it.
We've been touting that our tuning costs more because you get more, this is one of the reasons why. In attempting to keep costs down and also not lose folks through the emails that sometimes get missed, a support system has been implemented in beta form here: http://www.moto-east.com/support

Use "moto" as user and "customer" for the password (spam management). This will help ensure that your request does not get lost. You can continue to use email for tune requests and such, but by keeping a database we can more efficiently track response times and make sure nothing is missed. It is in beta form so please contact by email if you have issues.

So that's it for now, keep an eye out as we continue to work and develop this platform further! For existing customers upgrades to most of the stuff above will be at no charge if your setup is the same. For forced induction it will be an extra cost due to the complexity and time involved.

Please e-mail your requests or use the support system, PMs are very difficult to keep track of and we may lose you there!

Sweet, seems like some nice updates there Mike. Loving the tune so far. Can't wait to get my header and retune!

Will be Calling you next week Mike! Just getting the car back today. Will have it at the track all weekend - going to see if I can make the issues we were talking about show up and/or go away. Enjoy your weekend!

Mike,

If Nameless ever releases their EL Header (with cat) I will be sure to get a tune from you. Your shop is only 30 minutes from me.

Awesome update Mike. Thanks for the continued support. Should have my header installed in about two weeks, will see you then.

Cool, enjoy your time. The parties are aware and it is being taken up, apparently not just the US folks having the same issues. Toyota may be listening. (I should specify this not a tuning, but an ABS/TC issue that racers are getting and is in another thread)

Sure thing, when you get it we can see if there's any difference between the catted and non-catted with the cam phasing gains.

BTW, doing an Auto currently and we can see there is not an updated definition for the USDM auto (there is for MT). However, we are able to copy the JDM auto map transient retard into the existing USDM map and this won't affect the gear ratios any. The new map with the transient retard up top is A01X, with the X being either B/C/D/I/J...for markets. So until there is an auto version from subaru/toyota, this ought to take care of the issue. Just a bit more work on this end but no big deal. Once it comes out we'll use that as the base for auto maps.

I wonder if the reason they don't have an auto reflash is because the shift times? Doesn't it have to be a shift in less than .5 seconds of something along those lines in order to recreate the issue?

Damn are u sure you can't support us Australians hahah

It is there on the JDM auto. None of the tuners have been able to get a fresh enough off the line Auto in the US, or it may not be released in the US yet. But as above, we can apply this patch to the current file.
