New to Tuning, some advice?

First off, let's get it out of the way that I absolutely love this car. That said, I've never been very knowledgeable about them. This car has inspired me to learn as much as I can about it.

I'm driving an A/T LHD Scion version and I've recently started looking into modifying it some, at the recommendation of the petrolhead roomates. The only mods I have done are the TRD Sound changer DIY mod, and installing a Perrin CAI. What I'm interested in and my ultimate goal is to look at getting the car tuned. I have no idea where to start.

Would you guys please be able to advise me on what mods and what the different stages of tuning I would need? I'm looking at the FA20Club tunes and from what I've heard, it's how the car should have been made.

Do I need a liscence for each tune? What about the Tuning kit found here:

Thanks for all of your guidance, I've used guides here many times to make the car exactly what I wanted.

You need this one.

You have to have a cable(or borrow one) & 1 license per vehicle not per tune.

Thanks for the info!

Why is stage 2 necessary? I've had a couple of replies on some other forums that said stage 1 is what I needed? Would you mind explaining the differences in tunes and what they require?

I'm also at looking into the 3" diameter inlet tube from Perrin also. I've heard that even the .3" difference in air matters when choosing.

Stage 1 is for a stock car with no mods.

Stage 2 is for a car with bolt on mods like CAI and exhaust.

Thanks a lot, and thanks to the mod who moved this to the proper section.

depends on the tuner.

Our files come custom to each car based on your fuel, mods and section of the country. They are then dailed in based on the logs from your car.

Sorry I meant in respect to the FA20Club tune that the OP had linked.

Would the lack of aftermarket exhaust cause an issue with Stage 2?

I'm looking into the Perrin Catback exhaust, will do frontpipe and overpipe later.
I should probably do the exhaust first correct?

It depends on the tuner and how they charge... If they start out high but give free or cheap retunes then tune now and get more parts.

If they charge per tune regardless of what you've done I'd wait for the dp/overpipe as that may affect your tune.
No clue as to what tuner to go with, I'm just using my wrx experience added to what I've read.
