ECUtek issues

Hey all,

I just recently took my car to get it tunes after replacing everything header back. They were able to get the license into the car but anytime they tried to upload anything the ecu would crash. Anyone know of these types of issues. The tuner seemed a bit confused with it and says that ecutek has been having some issues.

Thanks

Never had issues on either of my ecu's. Is it locking up during tuning? You sure its not their pc locking up? Have they tried to restore back to stock? Did they run an ecutek software update first? Are they reputable? How many other cars have they tuned?

Who did you take it to? Odds are it's either a cable driver issue, or physical problem with their cable if the issue continues to occur.

^^ All of this. Make sure the connection to the car is solid as well. If the prongs don't connect correctly that'll cause an error during the install. I'd also try to avoid any pressure on the usb connections to the computer.

When I flash I try not to breath for fear of moving either plug. :)

Could try just logging for a while with the same setup to make sure you are not losing connection. Crank up the volume on the laptop as well to hear if that usb unplug sound happens.

Ah I needed a witty remark this morning. Just made it even better. I am paranoid when I flash my ECU. Had one error happen during an installation. Thankfully it wasn't a huge deal and just had to get the license reset.

They have tuned a few.. had issues with most of them. It's a pretty reputable tuner and they are ecutek licensed and have been for a while. They sent an email to ecutek who responded with that isn't a known issue. The license is still on the car but it's a stock map basically. It appears to crash when they try to update any information. If a tuner puts on a license, if I get a cable from a friend, am I able to try to mess with it myself? I'm running NA so I don't have to worry to much about blowing my car up. :)

Assuming you had the new map from the tuner, yes, you could. I would not recommend that though until you have a better grasp on the ins and outs of EcuTek.

Don't be so sure about that.

if the tuner has the license in the ecu, all you need do is load the calibration file. Sounds like they are using an older driver for the cable, or the file is keyed but not for your car.

If you have a cable and a laptop, I can remote access your laptop and see what the issue is if you like

It actually appears that it was a is use with data logging before the car started. It would crash unless you started logging after the car was started. Was able to get into it today with help from ecutek.
