10 Series FR-S - How to order?

My first post as I was going to purchase a 2013 MY until I learned of the 10 Series. I have contacted 3 Scion dealerships in the New England area and all of them are clueless to the 10 Series, let alone being available in June.

How should I prod a dealership and make them learn the 10 series and how to obtain a 10 series ASAP?

I spoke with the largest volume Toyota dealership in the Boston area and still no knowledge of the 10 series FR-S.

Wow this is pretty sad... Scion dealerships suck but I didn't think it was this bad.

Hey I was in the same position that you are in. I went to three different dealers who were clueless about the Series 10. I told them to check the Scion website its right on there. I eventually found a dealer that was able to put my Series 10 order in. When I asked the salesman about the Series 10 he pulled up the website up in front of me. Surprisingly he knew the features of the car before going on the website to show me.

did you just fill out a order form saying which car you wanted and putting down your name?

They were like "we start seeing 2014 MY cars in September. I haven't heard of any new models being released."

I explained that the 10 year anniversary editions are a series or package. I didn't go as far as to ask them to look at the scion web site.

I should have told them about this new and really handy research tool called google.

I will keep you posted on my plight.

Not your fault clearly. I don't understand how you can be a Scion dealer and can't keep up to date on what your selling. Do these guys even check their own website?

My store here in Indianapolis (O'Brien) has been allocated one 6speed manual 10 series FR-S which was scheduled to be built on the 25th of this month. Pricing and residuals for leases are still locked though.

A good friend of mine knows the owner of Cabe Toyota here in Long Beach, so he called him up and arranged for me to meet with their sales manager.

When I went to the dealership, they were expecting me, but knew nothing about the 10 Series yet. I filled out some paperwork, and gave them a deposit. They finally got their allocation last week, and I got the VIN and build date (5/22) when I visited last weekend. They got allocated 2 of the 10 Series, and both are spoken for.

Personally, I think one of these dealerships that have never heard about the 10 Series is actually your best bet. If they did know about it, it would probably be because somebody has already beat you to the punch.

I recommend taking a smartphone to the dealership, show them the 10 Series on the Scion website, and have cash in hand for a deposit. Let them know you are serious, and I'm sure they will want to sell you the car.

I get the feeling that people are just giving up for no good reason when the dealer doesn't know anything about the 10 Series yet. Don't give up! Inform them, and let them know you mean business.

Just did it today, non of the salesmen knew about the 10 series, got them to go to the manager and then told me they have 1 coming in the next month or so, told them I wanted it and left all my info. Didn't even have to put a deposit... probably cause I borrowed my father's M3 just to get some leverage... lol
