AUTO FRS, GRINDING/VIBRATION FROM UNDERNEATH WHEN TURNING??
 

Hi im charles, im new to the forum, and i would js like to ask if its normal for an automatic FRS to have a grinding sound from underneath the center of the car (driveshaft area i suppose) whenever i make a turn accelerating from dead stop.. Has anyone had same issues??? Have u checked at the dealer?? Would appreciate the help.. Im frustrated :( thanks!!!!!!

More info please:
Light/heavy/any Throttle?
Only when turning left/right/both?
Slight/full/any angle turn?

If it's easy to replicate, show your dealer.

I've got this, too, but my car is a manual. I attribute it to the LSD.

It's the LSD. It lets you know it's working.

Thanks for ur concern. Its from full stop then accelerating fast and slow. Both right/left on HALF-FULL angle turns. It grinds for a second like something is dragging but goes away. I was thinkin it might be the driveshaft? But how could this be? I only have 2000miles and never driven the sh*t out of this car(like driving on a track). Most ive done to it was redline it sometimes during break-in so the motor wont bcome a lazy one.. :)

It's just the Torsen LSD working.

i was wondering too what it was, it happens to me..

the fact that it happens when you are turning definitely has something to do with LSD.
The slower the turn, the louder you hear the grinding, and you will actually hear it on the opposite side of the rear, which means it is actually the LSD.

There's is this one particular 90* turn on my way to work where I, sometimes, make the LSD grind and moan...

Be gentle and it won't happen.

extremely old post but this is happening to me on my 2015. Is there any way to make the vibration stop? I havent heard of any other car brands with a Limited Slip Differential do this but i may be wrong.

No, it's normal. Most cars have tons of sound proofing to stop you from hearing it (or don't run a Torsen LSD).


It should get less noticeable as it's broken in and warmed up.
