AUTO FRS, GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM UNDERNEATH?

Hi im charles, im new to the forum, and i would js like to ask if its normal for an automatic FRS to have a grinding sound from underneath the center of the car (driveshaft area i suppose) whenever i make a turn accelerating from dead stop.. Has anyone had same issues??? Would appreciate the help.. Im frustrated :( thanks!!!!!!

Sounds like the stability/traction control. Mine does it every time I go from the street to my steep driveway.

Does that mean theres something wrong with my car? Do u have the grinding/slight vibration when accelerating when turning also?

Try turnIng off the tc and stability, if its gone then i think its normal

I've noticed this too, and it seems to be getting worse. For me it's not just a noise, I feel as if the car is shuddering from the back when I accelerate from a stop while turning. It seems to go away once the car is warm though, so I was assuming it was maybe the differential when it is cold. I'll try turning off traction control and seeing if it still happens, but the light never comes on when it happens so I don't know if traction control is the problem.

I get this too on my MT BRZ, particularly on loose surfaces (dirt / gravel). I was thinking it may just be the LSD doing its thing?

Really? We don't even know what the noise is to be categorizing it.

Anyway, try the same thing with your windows down. I find the inside rear wheel will sort of scrub/hop when taking off on a turn from a dead stop. Could be you hear/feel that. It's all good.

Yeah, really. This was the same post that was posted in the problems/issues subforum as well. If everyone double-posted like this guy we would have to sift through all the duplicity constantly, resulting in wasted time and storage capacity used. There is a subforum dedicated to diagnosing, reporting issues, and that's where this post belongs.

No worries, you're new ;). I hope that the noise is a non-issue or gets resolved painlessly for ya...

Torsen differential. If it is loud and sounds like grinding, you've got trouble. Go reproduce the noise for your dealer and get your diff replaced on warranty.
